I have been in such a retro mood. I love vintage-style typography–you could say, it really floats my boat. Usually the style is clean with some character. I think it just adds a whole fabulous element to a page…or a Project Life…or a December Daily…. :)

That’s why I was so excited to make this fun little number:

And not only would they be great for your memory keeping, but you can use them as gift tags or on a photo card or whatever!

So this is how they come. In the kit you get two different sizes to the PNG image. One is the STANDARD–use ‘as is’–size, and the other one is a BLEED size–meaning, you’ll get an excess of the card so that when you add a decorative edge then you’ll have some wiggle room.

So, let’s take a closer look at what this image is telling us.

If you decide you want to use a tag shape, choose the PNG image file that has BLEED in it. The BLEED files give a little excess to the design around the outer edge so that you have a little wiggle room to play with. The BLEED PNG files should be about 3.2″ wide and the tag shape should remain that 2.95″ wide so it will fit into the pocket of your Project Life. Center the two images and create that Print+Cut.

If you decide you want the STANDARD, straight-cut image to use, and you’re using it in your Project Life, you’ll want to make the card slightly smaller than 3×4–so setting a width of 2.95″ would probably end up being just right.

So the basics of this all is:
1. Open the needed PNG
2. Open the tag cut file and copy your tag style
3. Paste and center it over your PNG image
4. Set up your file for the Print+Cut

And voila! You are done!

Of course, if you are using this for anything else, your sizes can vary. Oh yeah, and to carry on the theme of what you’re working with there, there are three of the designs on the cards that have been included as cuttable shapes. I’m personally pretty fond of those. :)

Soooo…there ya have it! Go have some fun with it!

You know, I love having options for journaling. I like being able to use something beyond just the ordinary ‘type it up and print it out’ method. Combine that with my love for office supplies? Um yeah, this is what you get:

This kit is perfect for working with Project Life because the journaling cards come in 4×6 and 3×4 sizes. But of course you can use these for your pages, cards, projects…whatever floats your boat!

But wait . . . there’s more! (you know how I love to say that)

Not only can you use these as a PNG file in your photo editing software, but it also includes the cut files so that you can bring them into your cutting software and manipulate your colors there, change the corners to a rounded corner, or even add a fun edge border like from the kit On The Edge . . . like this.

You can put multiples on a page and run them off as print+cuts as well.

And wait….there’s even more! Because they are a cut file and created with lines and dots and all that good stuff, you can change the colors how you want them. Perhaps a girls’ game night would warrant a more girly colored score sheet journaling card, like this?

Now, if you have the Designer Edition of Studio, when you bring the SVG file into Studio, the image will be in color like you see above. If you have the Standard Edition, the DXF will all come in a that raw outline look–just lines, no color. What I would recommend doing is grab any text and turn it into a Compound Path (select the word/phrase, right click, choose Make Compound Path). That way it will change the text as it needs to be so that when you fill it with a color, it will do the right thing.

I might even recommend that you color them like you see and then save it as a STUDIO file and keep that one on file before adding it to your Library.

You may have noticed that there are some designs that I’ve made for kits like This+That in there. That’s because I loved the design so much that I thought it would be awesome to have it perfectly formatted in the 4×6 and 3×4 to make them easy to use. I also made the lines for these cards so that they are about the same as a piece of notebook paper so that you’ll have room to write.

Okay then . . . that’s all she wrote . . . so to speak. :)
With this kit, now you can now journal inFORMS.

So, like I mentioned a few days ago, little Miss Nichol had asked me to make some kind of recipe thing-a-ma-bob . . . like a year ago. I know, I’m a little behind. ;) After she sent me her darling recipe album, an idea for some recipe cards popped in my head and I just had to roll with it.

Which brings me to today’s kit:

Price: $5

Now, the real beauty of this kit is that it is totally customizable! As you can see from the composite photo, you get 5 backgrounds, 2 different insets, and 4 label styles. Plus, you get them for three different sizes! They come in 5×7, 4×6 and 3×4. The 3×4 is a really great piece to use in your Project Life too!

And not only can you pick the style of the item you’re using, but you can change them to your own color scheme . . . without having to use Photoshop or Elements! Of course, I did provide layered PSD files for it as well and it’s suuuuuper easy to use in there!

And another fun idea is to move the tab along the top and color code corresponding to whether it’s a dessert, a soup, a main dish, etc.

Now, if you’re just a-wonderin’ how to use all those goodies and change them to the color you want and all that fun stuff, I’ve got some videos you can watch! I’ve separated them into three different categories: using DXFs in the standard Studio edition, using SVGs in the Designer Edition, and using layered PSDs in Photoshop or Elements.

So without further ado…here’s they are.

Using DXF Files in the Standard Silhouette Studio: Part 1

Using DXF Files in the Standard Silhouette Studio: Part 2

Using SVG Files in the Designer Edition

Using Layered PSD files in Photoshop/Elements

Been busy getting the Subway Art up to date on the upcoming holidays.

Check these out for Graduation and Mother’s Day!
Both are just $1.

[ Comes in PNG as well as SVG/STUDIO/DXF/AIv8 ]

[ Comes in PNG as well as SVG/STUDIO/DXF/AIv8 ]

But wait . . . there’s more!

You can now buy these eight holiday subway art images–including the new Family one–in a specialty pack for just $5.50.

Price: $5.50

This would make an amaaazing Mother’s Day gift! I plan on getting laser jet transparencies–so they are totally clear–and then cut out the titles in vinyl, put them on the transparency, and put the first one into a glass frame (the rest into a folder). This way you can have the illusion of putting ‘vinyl on glass’, but yet you can easily swap out the holiday each month without going to all the work of putting vinyl on and taking it off the glass. What a pain that would be. :) I think I’ll tie up a cute ribbon with it too–probably on the side.

Or, just have a simple black frame that you can swap out the color photo printed versions (they are 8×10).

OH! And I found these really cool clips to hold/hang frames at Crate+Barrel today. Looove these!
They just had individual clips to buy.

so.fun.

So that’s why I had some fun making this little number.

[ Comes in SVG/STUDIO/DXF/AIv8/PNG ]
Price: $8

Green, after all is one of my favorite colors.
And having been to Ireland twice? Yeah, I love that too.
Talk about green! And in so many shades.
Beautiful country!
Sooooo ready to go again!

And ya know, it doesn’t have to be St. Patrick’s Day to use this kit. Use the ‘Pinch’ barcodes on a page with a chubby-cheeked little baby. Use the shamrock border (bottom one) on a garden or outdoor page. Use the ‘Good Luck Charm’ on a page about your kid. And the foldable toothpick banners or Ace of Club cards? Oh yeah…possibilities are endless there!

Anyway, just lots of fun little things . . . whether you’re celebrating the holiday or not. :)

Man, this really is just around the corner!
March is next week for cryin’ out loud!

So to get you in that festive mood, here’s a little home decor item for ya.

[ Comes in three PNG colors as well as SVG/STUDIO/AIv8/DXF ]

Price: $1

A couple little fun tidbits about this.
I wanted to include more than the usual ‘St.Patrick’s Day’ stuff,
so I found an Irish Blessing that says:

‘May your home always be too small to hold all your friends.’

I thought that was so cool.

And then I had bought a necklace in Ireland that says this in Irish (Gaelic) on one side:

Gra • Sonas • Slainte

And on the flipside and translated into English it says:

Love • Health • Happiness

That made me happy. :)

It’s February already. I can’t even believe it’s here! I know I say this all the time, but I have no idea where the time goes! It’s a good thing we get an extra day this month because I’m gonna need it! ;) Finally, extra hours in the day…uhhh…I mean month!

February is such a fun time of year, isn’t it? Love the love. I was so excited to work on this next kit! My head doth exploded with Valentine+Love goodness. I can’t even tell you how many things I didn’t put in this baby! Alas, I will just have to save them for another time.

In the meantime, check out what all comes in the new xoxo kit!

[ Comes in STUDIO/SVG/DXF/AIv8/PNG ]

Price: $12

Holy cannoli! I told y’all it was gonna be loaded. But as opposed to my Facebook status this morning, it’s nowhere near the $50 price I was joking about. :)

There are little foldable banners, a doily, journaling + playing cards–that can fit into your Project LIfe, many titles, arrows and a cute little heart border. The two little journaling cards in the upper-right say ‘a little bit crazy in love with you.’ But I think my favorite–besides the heart border–would be the ‘Unconditional. Loving you just because I can.’ I don’t know why that one just tickles my fancy. :)

Anyway, tons of different things that you can use all year long, doesn’t just have to be for Valentines. Because, after all, we’re always showing love, right? And you know, you could cut off the word ‘you’ with the title ‘ a little bit crazy in love with…’ and then add something like ‘chocolate’ or ‘hawaii’ or ‘george clooney’.

And the other day I got to spend some ‘q.t’ with this group . . . minus Kristy . . .
who was there, but refused to be phototgraphed. She’s such a ninny!

[me. viv grothe. lisa bearnson. loni stevens. and kristy banks standing behind the camerea...the poo poo head. and i did strongly stick out my tongue at her a few times letting her know of my contempt for her nonphotographness.]

It’s a good thing we have birthdays because we at least get together for that!
This time? Lunch at Cafe Paesan. I tell you what . . . it was divine!
If you’re a fan of Cafe Rio and you love Italian too, this is sooooo danged good!
The people that started Cafe Rio, started this place.
It’s definitely worth date night!

I sure do ‘xoxo’ these girls. ;)

Oh, and I suppose you’d love to know who the winners are for the new xoxo kit here on the blog! That would be . . . . insert drumroll here . . .

RHONA – FEBRUARY 1, 2012 – 11:57 AM

I told y’all I was in a valentine / pinky mood.
Here’s something to get you started thinking about it too! :)

[ Comes in SVG/STUDIO/DXF/AIv8/PNG]

Price: $1

I included three color versions because I was just in the mood. It’s how I roll sometimes. But that’s not to say you couldn’t alter colors to suit your needs. There’s also a version that’s just black text, no background.

There are also cut files so that if you wanted to cut it on vinyl, you could surely do that too!

Oh, and these would make awesome Valentine cards too!
