new kit: weathered door alphabet

A few years ago I made an alphabet. Yes, it’s true. My reason for making it changed and I never used it. But you may remember seeing it on these pages.

So it’s been sitting here on my computer for some time  and now I’ve finally made it into a cuttable set of files! I wanted to call it something representative of me and what I love and of course my mind went to our family farm. I thought about how things get weathered and worn there an decided to call it Weathered Door (thinking of the old yellow house). And, oddly enough, when I asked Kassidy what I should call it–what it made her think of to look at it–she said chipped paint. Perfect!

You can get it in of two ways. If you’re just fancying the ruggedness of the letter and that’s really all you want, you can buy just that.

But if you like a layered look, with a solid underside and an outlined top–or if you want to mix and match your letters, you just may want the whole enchilada. Plus, you do save buy buying all three together.

Now while there are distressed fonts out there, this was made with the intention of having it cut on a machine, so it’ll give you the look of a roughed-up letter without so many jigs and jags that a distressed font may have–sometimes shredding your paper.

And just to be clear, these are cuttable files, not a font in its technical term. But they do come in PNG format, so you can add them to a digital page or project as well. If you purchase the three-style version, each letter–upper and lower–in those three styles are saved in one file together. If you buy just the single style, both letters–upper and lower–are saved in one file. It also has numbers and characters. Ya just gotta have those too. :)

Beth R - May 18, 2013 - 10:25 am

Well Kerri looks like you did it again.
Of course I want the whole enchilada!

Dolly - May 18, 2013 - 10:27 am

When this popped up in my reader before I read what the post was about I said…”Wow! I LOVE that font!” Thanks so much Kerri for another HOME RUN girl!

Dolly - May 18, 2013 - 10:33 am

Is “farm fresh” a font you designed or can you share the name of it?? TIA Kerri!

Jeanine - May 18, 2013 - 3:04 pm

Love this!!!

SherryGrove - May 19, 2013 - 2:07 am

I saw this somewhere in the last couple days — I was following a link and ended up on flickr maybe and saw it there. I searched the entire shop for it and didn’t find it. Love it! I’ll have the full meal deal please and thank you!

there’s a new kit in town

So happy to finally have a new kit for y’all! More great titles to help you get ready for National Scrapbook Day in couple weeks! (And don’t forget about The History Project sale–info in the previous post.)

Lots of great shapes that you can use with the title or even for something else. I love maximizing art. :)

Dolly - April 21, 2013 - 8:33 am

An awesome kit it is too!
LOVE the “Nothing short of amazing” title piece-it kinda has a vintagey feeling to it and the “Love that” piece is adorable as well as versatile enough to go on pretty much any page.
Love the “Love this” as well! Okay, let’s just say I love the whole darn thing…as I do all the say what kits.:D

new kit: bloom

I am sooooo excited for spring! Fall is my most favorite season, but spring is a close second. It’s always exciting for me to see the seasons transition. The excitement of looking for hints of green, longer days + more sun coming in the front room window, and the best part–open windows.

So of course this wonderful time of year has inspired me to create this new Bloom kit. All sorts of handwritten words to use with your spring and Easter pages. Lots of words to combine too: spring break, hello spring, easter eggs, planting flowers . . . all sorts of things!

And I can’t believe it’s 7:30 in the evening, there’s still light, and my window is open.

I do believe I’m in heaven right now.

new kits + cha recap

Okay boys and girls . . . today’s a big day! If you haven’t noticed, I got a couple new kits up! The fist is a set of new storyboard photo templates and I also used them to create my photo collages below. This kit is made to work with all square photos—Instagram Style. Not that you have to use them with an Instagram photo (mine aren’t), but you surely can!

Check out all the different templates here!

As per usual, each template has its own frame–straight or rounded corner–to overlay the set of photos if you’d like. And just to remind you, if you want a thicker line? Just add a stroke to the frame and voila! It’s a thicker frame!

And because I’m feeling saucy . . . the storyboard kit is on sale through Sunday night for 20% off!

So if’n ya wanna save a couple bucks, best be gettin’ ‘em now!

And the next individual kit would be a-comin’ at the request of Miss Nichol. She has something in mind for these babies and I can’t wait to see what it is!

.   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .

So a couple weeks ago I went to sunny California for CHA. A cold California, but still 40 degrees warmer than where I left. It was single digit temps here in Utah and in the 40s in California. Felt wonderful! This was the view right by the hotel (left). I think that street by Disneyland (right) is my favorite street in California. It’s just so pretty with all those palm trees lining the street!

Got to run around with my dear friend Lisa Bearnson, which was totally fun! We stayed up ‘way past my bedtime’ according to Lisa (she knows I’m not a night owl). Like 1:30 in the morning. Chatting away like girls at a slumber party. It was so much fun getting to really visit with her again. The occasional lunch just doesn’t cut it. ;) And when we used to travel together often, we could conversate more. So it was fun doing that again.

I ran into so many friends there! Heck, I don’t pay to go see the product…I pay to see all my friends that I never get to see! Here’s a peek at a few of the friends I got photos with.

I added two actions over the top of that:
Heartland from The Pioneer Woman and Acid Wash from Totally Rad Actions.

Dang…I don’t know what I was thinking when I missed taking one with Elizabeth Kartchner and Heidi Swapp. And dear Miss Shari…she was busy and I was going to go back the next day and get a pic with that cute thing and totally got busy with other things. Next time Shari darling!

All these girls are just amazing. Truly. I’ve known them for years–and some a few years longer than the others. Kristina (from TwoPeas) and I were winners of the very first CK Hall of Fame contest and on the Provo Craft design team. We even had a scrapbook getaway…with Stacy Julian too, before Simple Scrapbooks was really ever anything. Kristina was the first friend I ran into at CHA and it was so fun to see her again. And of course that Ali girl…haven’t seen her in forever. And Teresa…we are Cafe Rio lunch buddies….and it’s been a while. ;) And don’t get me goin’ on Becky and Lisa. And Lori is such a fabulous designer. Worked with her in my CK days. I don’t know how she does all that she does!

I’ve really been lucky to be in this industry for so many years. I’ve made many friends and had many wonderful opportunities. I’m very grateful for all of that. Truly.

And then, of course, I got to see this IRL.
Hey, I can use current TLA (three letter acronym) jargon too. ;)

I tell ya, Becky’s booth was hoppin’ the whole time! Definitely a buzz going on there. Hmmm….wonder why?

Chatted with those American Craft boys and all the fun people that work with that fabulous company–Becky, Maggie, Elizabeth…Studio Calico… Is it any wonder why people want to be associated with AC? They are–and have always been–my very favorite company to work with. Love those guys (and cardstock, of course).

Oh, and little Miss Maggie had these fabulous photo overlays to vintagefy (yeah, it’s a word) your photos. Attach it with some washi tape? Soooo cool! And oh my, I tried to find a photo on AC or Crate Paper (who she’s doing it through–and CP is under the AC umbrella), and even on Maggie’s site, but couldn’t find it. I’m sure you’ll see something soon.

Stopped by the Silhouette booth. Saw that they have new chipboard that you can work with now. That’s awesome for all you chipboard lovers! If you haven’t seen their announcement on their blog, you can check it out HERE.

My Mind’s Eye are another one of my favorite companies. They always have such wonderful scrapbooking goodness. Yum. That’s all I have to say!

Stopped by the Lifestyle Crafts booth and chatted with sweet Michelle Rasmussen…who was my first boss when I started with QuicKutz…but I’d known her prior to that for all the QVC stuff. This girl is a total sweetheart and I miss working with her. She’s so creative and she’s doing an amazing job with her vision for that company. The Letterpress is fabulous!

The trip was quick, but oh so much fun to go again. It’s been about three years since my last trade show. I’d love to go to Chicago…it’s my kind of town. ;) Seriously though, love Chicago.

twentyTHIRTEEN . . . it’s here!

I’m so excited to finally get this kit to y’all.
I can’t  believe we are three weeks into the new year already!
It’s been a busy one for me so far. Hope it mellows just a little bit.

pfffffff . . . who am I kidding . . . really. ;)

So, without further ado, here is the new twentyTHIRTEEN kit!

The fun part of this kit is not only the mixing and matching within the kit itself, but I also made it to coordinate with the Life Additions: Weeklies #2 kit! I felt like it was time to update the ‘twenty____’ series. Originally I’d made them so that they could all work together . . . and they still can. But I wanted to focus more on making it coordinate with the Weeklies #2 kit. You’ll see some similarities, but I opted for updating some of the fonts and still kept a couple of the ‘regulars.’

Here’s some more examples of mixing it up within the kit itself:

And of course this would work perfectly with the Life Additions: Weeklies #2 kit too!
Fabulous addition to your Project Life!

Yay! I’ve been waiting for this so I can do my PL title page! Tks Kerri!

BTW – LOVING the History Project!!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 12

This is it folks. The very last day. I have to say, this has been one of the most fun times I’ve had here at KBS. Our own little two-week long Christmas party–great company, great conversation, all we needed was a little eggnog.

Thank you all so much for coming ’round these parts and making this Christmas season very merry+bright!

And now, I leave you with one last freebie. It just didn’t seem appropriate to not have one Christmas tree in the mix. So that’s what is up for grabs today and tomorrow.

I kind-a liked the long and skinny version. I even messed with stretching it taller (but not too far) and it looked pretty fun. It’d be awesome going up the side of your page!

To download it for free until Monday morning, click HERE.

And now.

What should we put on sale for today?

How’s about this one . . . it’s always been one of my faves.

It’s normally $9, but it’s on sale for half off–making it just $4.50–until Monday morning.

To purchase, click the image or click HERE.

man . . . as I’m writing this I keep feeling like i’m saying goodbye to all my  company at the end of the party.

And now, the last big fun thing for our little party.

If you are a fan of my Facebook page, you already know this baby is up!

A little somethin’ somethin’ for all your Project Life crafts perhaps?

I am so excited about this kit! Love the frames. You can put them over a title card or a photo . . . or even turn them vertically and use them if your photo pockets are obligin’. Lots of fun extra words to mix and match and just have a grand ol’ time!

Yeah . . . . some fun to be had there!

To check it out in the store, click the image above or click HERE.

Well, I guess that about wraps it up folks!
(And no, I did not mean that to be a pun in any way.)

It really has been such a fun past couple weeks!

Now we are all going to focus on our families over the next few days, get stuffed, and get stuffed some more. You know me, I’m all about the food. Of course, I do have one other page to share on Monday from Miss Nichol, so you’ll want to be sure to check in on that when ya gotta a couple minutes between parties, Santa visits, and dreaming of sugarplums dancing in your heads.

Oh and don’t forget, this class brand new class that’s available here on my site!

If this is the first time you’re hearing about it, you’ll want to check out all the details HERE. Additionally, it’s on sale until class starts, which is December 31. So maybe when you can breathe after the 25th, check it out. It’s going to be a fantastic heirloom for you. Truly. I’m very excited about it!

12 Days of Christmas: Day 1

Welcome, welcome!
Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas here with us at KBS!

I’m so excited for this time of year. So many fun things going on, presents to be purchased, songs to be sung…and food to be eaten!

So much to do and so little time. Can you believe that Christmas Eve is just two weeks from today???
Goodness gracious . . . I gotta do me some shoppin’!

Well, I’m just givin’ ya one more thing to do during this crazy time of year . . .
. . . meeting me right here–every day–to see what we’ve got goin’ over the next two weeks (except Sunday :) ).

Each day during our 12 Days of Christmas there will be both a free shape and a kit for 50% off.
What???

You heard me.

Every day for the next 12 days.
(sunday doesn’t count though–just remindin’ ya.)

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, there will be something fun to share . . . whether it’s something from our fabulous creative team, something to learn, something new, or whatever may be tickling my fancy . . . it’s going to be a very fun-filled two weeks!

But there’s a big but here (and no, it’s not mine),
the freebie and the 50% a kit will be for that day only.

That’s why you absolutely have have have to check in every single day. But you know what? Unlike my previous ‘freebie’ weeks, if you miss a day, the freebie will be available to purchase for .99 the next day. Which brings me to some fabulous news . . . this is the beginning of a new time here at KBS . . . I’m going to start selling shapes from my compilation kits individually. I know, I know. Long time coming. I kept waiting to create a new store and finally, I’m just sick of waiting. :) The ’12 Days’ freebies will all go into a kit when I’m done too, so they can be purchased either way.

I’m very excited about this!

So . . . hmmmmm . . . what should we start with first?

How’s about this:

I know it says it’s also in ’12 Days of Christmas Picks’, but it won’t be until our ’12 Days’ is over.
I just don’t want to create the image twice. :)
The .99 product images will always indicate when it’s also in a larger kit so you don’t accidentally buy it twice.

To download this for free today only, click HERE.

This is no longer available as a freebie, but you can purchase it HERE.

Okay, let’s see that Gift Card Envelope in action.
It’s perfect for all those little gift cards that I know you’ll be buying right now!

Here it is, with a brand new KBS holiday gift card (printed on photo paper), which I’ll cover here in a sec.
(So much to talk about today. :) )

Cut it from a cute patterned paper or decorate with glitz and glam or just wrap a big ribbon around it.

So now, that you had a little sneak at the new holiday gift cards, let’s talk about those.
Here is what they look like. There’s the revamped ‘every day’ style and now a ‘holiday’ style.

On top of having a new ‘holiday’ choice, I’ve made the cards in four different dollar amounts.
You now have the choice between $10 + $15 amounts along with the original $25 and $50.

Perfect stocking stuffer or gift for your little bestie–with the envelope freebie, of course.

To access all eight of them so you can pick the one that you need, click HERE.

( FYI, a gift card size is 3 3/8″ x 2 1/8″. )

Okay, so now, last but not least, what is on sale for today?
Well, in the spirit of this gift-giving day, Signed.Sealed.Delivered. has got to be the kit, don’t ya think?

Rather than this baby being $10, today–and today only–it’s on sale for $5.

FABulous deal!

To buy it, click the image or click HERE.

And now, one last ‘gift’ idea.

You may have heard that my Silhouette classes (and all classes) are on sale for 20% off on JessicaSprague.com. But did you know that now you can get Silhouette 1+2 in a bundle and save $5 . . . and then 20% on that? So, instead of spending $54 on both classes, you can get the bundle for just $39.20. That 20% off sale ends along with the year, so keep that in mind.

I know that many of you have a Silhouette or maybe you’re just getting one or you may have friends getting them for Christmas.
Have you and/or your friends been wanting to learn more?

I can tell you, you will be singing sweet Silhouette songs after taking these classes.

AND . . .

You can give them as a gift too!
Maybe you need to drop a hint to hubby or maybe it’s the perfect idea for the ‘hard to shop for’ friend.

You can find all the Silhouette classes HERE.
If you are wanting to give it as a gift, just choose the needed class and you’ll have a link to do just that.

Okay . . . whew! What a day!

Wonder what’s up for tomorrow? ;)

JoAnn - December 10, 2012 - 5:16 am

Thank you! I love your ideas and I have taken all your classes!Your amazing!

Marilyn B - December 10, 2012 - 5:20 am

Thanks Kerri for all your generous inspiration. I am looking forward to being able to purchase the individual files. You rock!

Sherry Eckblad - December 10, 2012 - 5:27 am

I have downloaded this file twice and tried to import the dxf file into my silhouette software and it says file type not supported. Is there a problem with this file? I have the Silhouette Cameo and as being a newbie I might be doing it wrong but I believe the only one I can import is the dxf. HELP!!

Sylvia - December 10, 2012 - 5:43 am

Wow, this is great! Thanks so much for this wonderful gift!!!

Dolly - December 10, 2012 - 6:13 am

Thanks so much for the freebie! Love it!

Susan Kopp - December 10, 2012 - 8:26 am

Thanks so much for the cut file! You have the best designs out there and I love your work! I am looking forward to taking the designer course after the first of the year cause my hubby gave me my early Christmas present of a new Cameo to replace my original version of Silhouette. Thanks!

Christie E. - December 10, 2012 - 8:45 am

Thanks so much for this file! I’m new to the Cameo and cannot figure out how to get the file into my Silhouette Studio. Can you direct me to some directions on how to accomplish this. I just got my silhouette and I have no idea what I’m doing! Thank you!

Karen S - December 10, 2012 - 8:54 am

I can’t seem to get the file downloaded either =(. BTW…love your stuff!

Kerri - December 10, 2012 - 9:01 am

Karen + Sherry….
Maybe try using a different browser or use the File/Download method.
Let me know if that helps.

Christie E. - December 10, 2012 - 9:02 am

I got it to work! After some hunting around, I found out that had to download the dxf file, and it worked great! I was trying to download the wrong one. Told you I was new to this! And is there a trick to getting the Captcha phrase right. It is taking me about 20 attempts before I can get it to go through.

Kerri - December 10, 2012 - 9:14 am

Glad you were able to get it to all work. And sorry about that danged Captcha thing.
I hate it, but I hate SPAM worse…and it gets terrible without it.

Terri Marchbanks - December 10, 2012 - 9:27 am

Oh Me Oh my Thank You for being soooooooooo great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So much excitment …

Ruth G - December 10, 2012 - 10:16 am

What fun! Just the distraction I need from trying to make everyone else happy this time of year! Thanks for all you share, Kerri!!! I had trouble with the download the first time I tried and then it went through, so if anyone else has trouble just try again and hopefully it’ll work like a charm!

Rhadonda - December 10, 2012 - 11:45 am

Santa’s bringing me the Designer Edition of the Cameo for Christmas – YIPPEE!!!!!! I’ve already done a little shopping in the Silhouette Online Store (can’t do anything with the items I bought yet, but I wanted to take advantage of the sale!) & have signed up for your 3 of your Silhouette classes at Jessica Sprague…another YIPPEE!!!! I’m trying desperately to download today’s freebie (svg file) but have absolutely no clue as to what I’m doing…I click on the link & see the 3 different types of files, but I don’t see a download button or anything. Can you help me with this…& the bigger question is…is there any hope for me?????!

ScrappyMama - December 10, 2012 - 4:23 pm

I think I got it figured out! I found the “file” button & the “download” option was hiding in there…MAYBE there is hope for me! Thanks for the freebie & I can’t wait to learn all about my new Cameo from you in class!
