St. Patrick’s Day is Sunday. Can you believe that? Guess I better get my green sweater washed so I can wear it to church. There’s nothing like spending two hours with a room full of kids on St. Patrick’s Day. Need to eliminate any question of pinchability. (yeah, it’s a word).

There is also a favorite Primary song–for just about every person in the church–by that same name. If you haven’t heard it, you can listen to it HERE with voices (first song). And HERE with variations on the music (it’s kind-a cool, but I couldn’t find the voices).

So for our birthday gifts that we are handing out this year, we are giving them this 4×6 photo card with first verse done in subway art style and individualizing each one with their name. They can use it to put into their scriptures, use it as a bookmark, hang it up in their room….whatever they want to do.

I thought they turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself. ;) I left an open space to accommodate the name. If there were short names, I put in flowers or stars depending on if it were a boy or a girl. Stack two for a narrow ‘space’ and use one big one for a bigger ‘space.’ You can use any images or dingbats you may have to put in there. Of course there was also other finagling that had to occur…making the name wider or more narrow…adding more space between letters…. So it’s not just as easy as typing in a name, but it wasn’t bad.

So of course I had to share this with everyone too!

There are a couple variations in two different sizes (4×6 and 8×10). One has just the song lyrics for the first verse and the other has a space for a name. You’ll just have find a similar font and put in your own name. The font I use is a purchased (expensive) font, so find something similar and it’ll look great.

Now, I’m off to get them printed on cards from Persnickety Prints. On the back, I’m putting ‘you are simply amazing.’ And you’re probably thinking, ‘Uh. It’s February….?’ Luckily we’ve only had a couple birthdays, so I’m okay. Have I mentioned it’s been a really crazy month? ;)

Yesterday was Father’s Day.

I’d planned on posting yesterday, but Sunday just kind of got away from me. We had a lovely day of church, skyping with Zach, making cabbage salad and chocolate chip cookies for dinner with Dan’s family, having dinner with the gang, more skyping with Zach with the whole gang, and then enjoying a movie with the girls when we got home. It was nice to ignore the computer all day long. :)

Here’s what Nichol has to say:

I love combining elements from lots of kits for truly unique projects. The sunburst is one of my very favorite shapes and the banner is one I use over and over and over. I love stamping greetings or phrases on the banner. Be sure to measure your stamp prior to die cutting to make sure you resize the banner so that the stamped image will fit.

Dimensional embellishments like twine and gems help “liven up” die cut shapes.

Even though it’s been almost eight years since my mom passed away,
it still seems weird that she’s not around.

There’s many-a times when something happens in my little family’s life, I think,
‘My mom would have gotten a kick out of this.’

Eight years and I’m still thinking how what happens in my life
would affect her life.

I guess it doesn’t matter how long it’s been,
it’s just something instinctive…innate, maybe.

Wish she could have been around for the big digital age of cameras.
She would have loved that…no printing to see your results.
And she could have seen her results on a big ol’ tv.
She would have loved that.

Anyway, I know she’s up there somewhere watching over us,
so I just wanna say…

love you mom.

miss ya.

I don’t think there is something more eloquently said.
And it doesn’t just have to apply to a person that ‘works’…I think it can apply to anyone.

It comes in three variations…plain black+white, one with a little distressing,
and then one that’s really grunged up.

Its size is 8×12 on this go around of subway art.
I wanted the look to be long and more poster like.

I’d planned on buying an 8×12 frame . . . until I ran into this little number yesterday
at my favorite place: Rod Works.

It’s actually a metal piece, intended for use as a magnet board.
I just covered the printed design with my own design.

It’s also 8.625″ x 14.5″, so I did stretch it a little.

Love it!

I plan on hanging it up in my office.
