lovin’ the love sale

Hello February. Haven’t seen you for like a whole year now. It’s funny how this month makes you start thinking about how spring will be coming next month. Well, supposedly it comes. It’s usually sprinter ’round these parts. But I look at our matted down grass from the snow that’s melted away and just get a […]

Lorretta - February 1, 2014 - 9:08 pm

LOVED this class!! I’ve learned how to make so many different card options and learned techniques that I can modify the lessons for even more varieties. AWESOME!

hsn coming this friday!

Big day on Friday! Lots of crafting to be shared for sure. Going to enjoy some warmer temps and fresher air. :) If you haven’t seen this yet? Project Life Cinnamon Edition is on sale for 19.95, including  a big pack of pocketed page protectors. An amazing deal! Seriously. And when they are gone, they […]

I love the Cinnamon Edition. I bought it for my husband for Christmas so he can get his childhood photos out of those icky magnetic albums. It’s perfect for a guy, but I also love the kit for myself. If he doesn’t hurry up and use it, I may be sneaking into the box for a few of my projects. :)

i blame this thing

Meet Tweety. My cute little baby bird of a Mac. This sweet little thing came into my life last February when the downstairs became a shell of its former glory (pfff….not glory…outdated mess). I always felt chained to my Big Mama Mac (aka, Witch Hazel. Looney Tunes fans here). Always in my office. Sitting in […]

You go girl! You got this!

Barb - January 13, 2014 - 7:12 am

Good luck! But ya gotta keep Tweety open for the Jack Johnson music!! I see my very favorite album on your screenshot. That is what’s playing in Ohio right now too!

Nashonne - January 13, 2014 - 7:33 am

Good for you Kerri! We all need work-life balance in our lives.

Audrey V - January 13, 2014 - 8:53 am

I hear you! My laptop makes it easy to work wherever, and it does take over my life. I also work from home, and sometimes I appreciate the ability to get caught up on my work on the weekends. And a lot of the people that I work with also do the same thing, so some of them have come to expect a response from me on the weekends. I do think it is unhealthy for us. Good for you!

Gwen Lords - January 13, 2014 - 9:32 am

I have been trying to do that also, technology is such a blessing, but also it can be a huge distraction from the things that are most important. Good luck!

Lorretta - January 13, 2014 - 9:44 am

Good for you! As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE your products and classes, I am still so happy to hear that you are giving yourself some time off. =)

Kathy - January 13, 2014 - 10:31 am

I sent you an email on Saturday and I am very proud of you for not answering it! I bet people don’t hear THAT very often! LOL

Nola Grotegut - January 13, 2014 - 10:37 am

Good for you! When you are tempted, say to yourself “Remember this day is not for work, it is for family” You can do it!!!!

heidig - January 13, 2014 - 11:33 am

I think we all need a little more of the closed laptop and less of the open. I’m with you! Good luck.

Rachel Eliston - January 13, 2014 - 1:25 pm

Yes! This is something I can totally relate to. I am only in my first week of blogging and have seen a massive increase in laptop/smartphone/iPad time and less people time already and I don’t like it! I definitely need to learn to manage my time better and do what you are doing! Make myself have time off and live too, which will probably increase the creative juices for when I do sit down to blog etc. Well done for making a stand! Good luck and thank you for showing this newbie that I have to take time out too!

Kitty - January 13, 2014 - 1:54 pm

Good Luck and I really mean it. I do home daycare and I know what you mean. I work around the clock. My poor garden looked aweful last year Not this year I to am taking off the weekends thanks for the letter it was a great read

vicki - January 13, 2014 - 4:12 pm

I totally get it. I had a home-based business when my kids were small — and I worked ALL the time. ALL. THE. TIME.
I didn’t have a laptop so I was in the office, away from my family. It was much nicer when I got my life in balance. You can do it!

SiskiyouSue - January 13, 2014 - 5:45 pm

Good luck!

Rhadonda - January 14, 2014 - 8:35 am

Right there with ya! I have worked from home for forever as a medical transcriptionist and trust me those doctors dictate 24/7. While i am thankful for my job especially when i had kids at home, now that i am empty nest i find myself becoming a workaholic and not knowing how to relax or enjoy other things. I am praying and searching for just the right schedule that accomplishes much in my life physically, spiritually and workally (i make up words too!) It is so hard to get that balance. Here’s to finding balance (maybe that should be my word for this year)

Kerri - January 14, 2014 - 8:50 am

It’s so nice to know we are not alone in this. Maybe we can all keep each other in check in making sure that we make time to have a life vs. letting work consume it.

Already I’m feeling calmer this year than I felt at any other time last year.

And Rhadonda, I’m afraid of falling into the empty-nester-workally-at-home-all-the-time too. I’m technically there. I do have a college student at home, but she’s pretty self-sufficient. ;) I had balance as part of my OLW last year and failed miserably! That’s why I chose ‘focus’ this year. I thought that would help me achieve the balance, among other things.

Kathy…love the support there girl!

And Barb, the music will always be playing. :)

and the winner is…

I highly recommend the experience!

Believe it or not, I do not consider myself to be an artist. True Scrap Pocket Pages + Giveaway

Pocket page scrapbooking. You may also know it as Project Life scrapbooking. It is something I whole heartedly believe in, yet I don’t do it. I don’t know why.  Maybe it’s a mentality thing. Maybe it’s a ‘I never really can scrap anyway’ thing. But I tell ya, I am so thinking of doing it, […]

Nicole - January 7, 2014 - 3:44 pm

I love project life! It’s the best! And I’d love to take this class to learn more on my favorite topic from some of my favorite project lifers. Thanks for the opportunity!

Michele Draper, UT - January 7, 2014 - 3:45 pm

Well I am trying to get into the simpler way of scrapping. Right now I do the traditional 12×12 pages….scrapping individual books for 4 granddaughters has gotten to be WAY too much for this working gramma! I have been buying Simple Stories paper and still haven’t used it with the pocket method…..I am still talking about it, just not sure how to transition on over! HELP!!!!!!

Susan - January 7, 2014 - 3:56 pm

I’m from Idaho, and my favorite technique is — actually getting a page done! I have been considering simplifying and moving to the pocket pages, though I think I will create them digitally. I could use some inspiration to make the plunge!

Carol F. - January 7, 2014 - 3:57 pm

Carol – Nebraska

Hi I’m Judy from Eastern Washington. This would be great to win. I have started Project Life several times over the past few years, but get hung up on doing it perfectly. I think organization is the key.

Vanessa Kelly - January 7, 2014 - 4:10 pm

I love being able to get a two page spread when I don’t have tons of pictures. I can fill the pockets with embellishment I create or memorabilia from the day! I do, however, need to jump start my creativity for 2014 and this is just what I need!!

Tammy - January 7, 2014 - 4:11 pm

O this would be so much fun to win since I know nothing about scrapbooking. Thanks Kerri for the chance

Michell B - January 7, 2014 - 4:19 pm

I’m Michell from Irving, TX! I am just starting PL this year so I would love to get some tips from this awesome class!! I will be using my iphone & canon selphy for most of the pics so I can capture more day-to-day moments :)

Nita K. - January 7, 2014 - 4:19 pm

I love Project Life! It’s taken the pressure off of scrapping for me. I love to add extra stuff like movie tickets, parts of bags, etc. it will be nice to look back some day to see how things have changed.

Rhadonda - January 7, 2014 - 4:20 pm

Rhadonda from frigid Sterling, IL I enjoyed doing digital PL last year though it was a little challenge being an empty nester but am trying to embrace finding many things to photograph! Thanks!

Darlene R - January 7, 2014 - 4:23 pm

My name is Darlene, I live in Griffin, Georgia about 50 plus miles south of Atlanta. I like being able to run my journaling cards through the printer because I can get more information on the day’s activities that way. I use Project Life as an illustrated diary of my life. Thanks for the chance to win a place in the class. :)

Christine - January 7, 2014 - 4:28 pm

Hi, my name is Christine and I live in Alabama. I love the Project Life concept and have been wanting to scrap in this way for awhile now. Well, this Christmas I received a Canon Selphy as a gift and I’m so thrilled that it will print straight from my phone wirelessly. I’ve had an awful time trying to get my cell phone pictures on paper but no more. I love my new photo printer and have started with my second week of Project Life plus took Becky Higgins tip from her blog and preserved all of my Christmas cards from this year in pocket pages. I’m really feeling lost though about how to organize my stuff, what I really need, and how to show the everyday in a meaningful way. I would love to win this class and learn more so that I will continue to be successful throughout the entire year.
Thanks for the chance to win! Lain is such an asset to the scrapbooking community. Thanks to her for making it possible to win too!
Christine

Lynda Callan Griffith - January 7, 2014 - 4:31 pm

Here I am in fidget Wisconsin, would love to learn the Project Life scrap-booking. Thanks for a chance to win.

Melanie S. - January 7, 2014 - 4:39 pm

Hello, My name is Melanie and I’m from Wisconsin.

To be honest I don’t scrap in the “normal” project life like others. I want to use the divided page protectors to go along with my normal 12×12 layouts. Mix and match through out my album. I love the look of the divided pages…honestly I’m stumped and need inspiration!

I have been waiting for an online class, with this topic, for sometime. I’m so happy!!!!

Pamela McGillin - January 7, 2014 - 4:44 pm

My most used, favorite technique (or trick) is to open Photoshop, drag in a 4×6 jpeg I’ve saved with the a guide line straight down the middle. Open two pictures that I want to use as 3x4s. Size them with the Style: Ratio: 3×4. Copy/Paste them onto the 4×6. Use Edit – Transform – Scale & make them fit in the 3×4 grid on the 4×6.
Two 3x4s on one 4×6. Print & trim to fit my pocket.
This method can be used for any size. 2x2s, 2×4, collaged or printed & trimmed. You can also save any size photo jpeg, arrange your guides lines the way you want.

Carla Hundley - January 7, 2014 - 4:54 pm

Carla from Utah
I like the simple
style with PL.

april - January 7, 2014 - 5:00 pm

My name is april, and I am from Denver CO. Unfortunately, I don’t have any favorites, or secrets because I am brand spanking new to this craziness! I hope to learn lots from this great new class!
Thanks for this opportunity!

Tina L - January 7, 2014 - 5:07 pm

I’m Tina, in frozen Minnesota. I never really scrapbooked until I did Project Life 2 years ago. I love looking back at hat album, and had a great time making it, but still fell off the PL wagon last year. I was “too busy” to “keep up”. Becky would tell me that there is no falling behind, and that I was making it too hard if I felt I was too busy. So, my advice would be keep it simple- don’t feel a need to make your album look like the ones you see on blogs.
I had forgotten about Lain’s class and am thrilled to have a reminder as well as a discount. I’m looking forward to the inspiration and tricks to keeping things simple! Thanks, Kari!

Tiffany H. - January 7, 2014 - 5:10 pm

My favorite pocket scrapbooking technique is to us it as it is–write a bit on cards, drop in cards, drop in photos and call it done. ;-)

Cheryl :) - January 7, 2014 - 5:12 pm

Hi. I’m Cheryl from Missouri. My favorite technique is taking a pic and resizing it into 2-4×6 photos to use side by side in PL pockets. Learned this from Catherine Davis. Have been “eyeing” TS Pocket Pages for a while now. Would LOVE to take part in it. Thanks for the chance.

Carrie Pangborn - January 7, 2014 - 5:14 pm

I’m Carrie from California and I just started with PL this year, I love the concept and being able to get the photos off of my phone. Not sure if it is really a technique but I love the ability to use 2×2 all the way up to 4×6 or bigger of photos if I want and it all goes together! Thanks for the chance to win!

Lisa S. - January 7, 2014 - 5:14 pm

Hi this is Lisa from Texas. I just find pocket scrapping so fast, but would love to learn some new techniques. Thanks for the chance to win!

jett H - January 7, 2014 - 5:28 pm

Jett from TX here. I just recently tried pocket pages for the first time and I found it very challenging. My normal LOs are 12×12 so working in these smaller spaces was hard. Sounds like this would be a great class for me!

I just got my 1st set of Project Life goodies.
Got the awesome overlays TOO!
I main goal is to “STOP REINVENTING THE WHEEL” every time I sit down to do a scrap book page. Pockets seem like a great solution.

Megan K. - January 7, 2014 - 6:12 pm

Hi. I’m Megan. I’m from Boca Raton FL. I’m pretty new to Project Life, but since acquiring me Cameo over the summer I’ve been making my own filler cards for the sheets in addition to the Honey collection. I’m also looking into doing layouts digitally as well. Thank you for the opportunity for a class!

Karen - January 7, 2014 - 6:15 pm

Casie - January 7, 2014 - 6:17 pm

I love the idea of project life, but just haven’t gotten it to be a part of my routine.

Candy Bryant - January 7, 2014 - 6:25 pm

You’re freezing and I’m sweating. Must be close to 80º here in Kailua, HI. It did get down to 69º last night! Had to get out a blanket! I’m starting my 4th (!!!) year of Project Life and I still love it. Love looking back and sharing. I started yoga in August of 2011 and started keeping a daily diary/planner. I have counted every class and today I finished my 396th!!! Since I was writing in it everyday, with PL it was easy to note what was what that day and to jot down if I took any pictures. Even if I get behind with PL, I can look back and easily fill in those weeks. I don’t have to rely on my foggy memory!
My feeling of accomplishment is off the charts and since doing the History Project I have a way of working on the past and the present while leaving a record for the future! I hope I win this class and maybe even have a few gems of my own to share.
Hugs & Aloha.

Becky Adams - January 7, 2014 - 6:36 pm

I love Project life as it makes’s scrapbooking so simple when one is in a hurry. I even use it for my regular scrapbooking to add extra details and extra enhancements for my projects.

Hi, it’s Kelley from Fort Worth, TX. I don’t have a favorite pocket/simple scrapper technique because I’ve pocket scrapped. Sue Alg - January 7, 2014 - 7:12 pm

Sue From Wisconsin. I’m starting my third year of PL. I sometimes do traditional using the plastic pockets pages, but often I use PL templates to create 12×12 digital pages. I love using overlays either traditionally or digitally. I create at least one page every week. I think that PL is the best thing ever. I’ve scrapping for over 20 years and I think PL and pockets pages and/or digital templates is the best thing that happened to scrapbooking.

I’m trying to catch up the last few weeks of the year, to get started with this new year, and the overiding theme for me just now, is git her done, lol. I still love it. ana roat - January 8, 2014 - 6:59 am

Hi Kerri-I’m starting my 4th year for PL and still love it just as much as I did in the beginning. What I love most is that I don’t need to stress over too many pictures and details or too few for that matter. The ability to use different sized page protectors works so well for me. I also like the freedom that comes with simple one week and fancy the next. And talk about all the lovely choices for core kits and add-ons….what’s not to love!

Thanks for the chance!

Karen Antczak - January 8, 2014 - 10:48 am

I’m Karen from Lafayette, Indiana. I just started really doing PL this year. I’ve tried in the past but am just too busy to keep at it with a daily photo and weekly spread. I’m having the best luck though with using PL pages as events come up. I have a two page PL spread for Thanksgiving, Christmas tree hunting, my daughters school dance, etc. I don’t stress over the weekly organizing and better yet, am staying current this way! It used to take me a whole weekend for a single page layout and I was getting so behind with traditional scrapping. PL has put me in a really good scrappy frame of mind! Thanks for the chance at the give away. Your the best!

Cindy Brooks - January 8, 2014 - 1:54 pm

from beautiful NW Montana!

I’ve been thinking hard about a PL project this year, too! I really need to get some memory pages done instead of my photos languishing in a box and the memories fading in my brain. When I want to scrap simply I just use textured cardstock with a simple cut title and handwritten journaling.

I love to do things in batches on my PL pages. Place a bunch of photos, place a bunch of cards, journal on cards, embellish, then move on to next section. If I do it in batches, it works out faster for me.

Lynne Kramwr - January 8, 2014 - 5:47 pm

This sounds great! I live in Colorado Springs, CO. I like to stick to just two maybe three embellishment types for a week. Make me not get lost in choices and also brings things together design- wise. Thanks for te chance to win!

Hi. I’m Kristen from Rochester, New York. This class sounds like just the thing I need to get going with Project Life! I have all the supplies but just can’t seem to get started. I was drawn to PL because of its simplicity and the pockets allow you to easily add things to your album that you may want to take out to look at (brochures, programs). This is the perfect solution for me to document my kids school years.

Kristiann - January 8, 2014 - 10:15 pm

I’m new to the whole pocket page thing but I really like how easy it is to just use the photos I have rather than worrying about cropping down or printing out in different sizes. I just use the size of the pockets and that’s it. Makes it a lot quicker. This is a great giveaway!
Lisa from Germany

Beth R - January 9, 2014 - 2:09 am

Beth R
Freezing my rear off in Michigan

I LOVE the PL idea, I have managed to “collect” many of the core kits. Those stinkin’ cards are all so adorable.
BUT……just can not figure out how to start !!!
I don’t know why I’m stuck , I think my life is so ordinary and repetitive that I really don’t have anything to document. I mean how many dog, laundry and snow photos can you document? I have no small children, live alone and work full time. Dull as watching paint dry. Thinking of doing one for my college age daughter who has soooo much going on.
I NEED this class, really need it.

mary lewis - January 9, 2014 - 5:19 am

Betsy Jay - January 9, 2014 - 3:42 pm

2014 is going to be a bold year for me in learning to use my new Cameo and trying to incorporate mixed media into my layouts. I am a font fanatic and love the new scripted brushstroke font I am seeing everywhere. My word of choice is “Daughter”. The love of my life:)

one day more

I’ve had this song in my head this morning…you know…the one from Les Mis? My theatrical singing daughter would play this (over and over and over) and sing along at the top of her lungs. And sometimes she’d do these little Snapchats, singing the end, her one finger up in the air and pulling a […]

now that christmas is over

wow. I feel like Christmas was the final exclamation point to my year. When I started off 2013 I had no idea the kind of year it would bring. I had big plans and big ideas. Some came to fruition and some got pushed by the wayside due to a remodel or a graduation or a […]

Cannot wait to see what your new classes are…as I am planning on taking a KB class, and a new one…may be just what I need. I have had the word focus for my OLW a couple of years ago…it was great, and really kept me on track. This year….my word is “discover”, and am excited to discover new ideas in your classes. Happy New Year.

Lori - December 26, 2013 - 3:42 pm

NEW classes coming soon?!?! Now that is a great belated Christmas gift to me! How exciting; thank you! Wishing you a wonderful new year!

Gina - December 26, 2013 - 6:50 pm

New classes I can’t wait, although this year I am going to try and finish the classes I paid for and haven’t finished yet. Trying to find time to balance a new job, children, an aging parent and church is a challenge. I love your word, but I may have to go with balance this year.

Claire - December 26, 2013 - 11:40 pm

Kerri – I know EXACTLY how you feel – I chose FOCUS as my word for next year too (with a sub-word of ‘organise’) I shall be focussing on ME – my health, my weight loss journey, my exercise routine and organising meals, my office, my classes that I haven’t finished, my LIFE but focussing every day (possibly find an hour the same time every day to go away and do this). I have just been existing and lurching from crisis to event to packaged food!
So, I am with you :)

Paula - December 27, 2013 - 2:21 am

I know just how you feel! Life well & truly ran away with me this year. Work, as always took over but being single, I am solely responsible for all bills etc.
However, rather late, but better than never, I set aside some “me” time & had great fun. I took two Tim Holtz classes to satisfy my mixed media side & dived in to your silhouette classes :)
So glad that I did & now I holding out for more!!!! Very excited that you have other classes in the pipeline.:)

Trish - December 27, 2013 - 4:07 am

Kerri, Your heartfelt comments resonated with me, too. Maybe with FOCUS as a mantra all of those other things (like balance and sanity) will come naturally. I feel as if I am an organized person, but events which I have no control over threaten that peaceful mindful and fulfilled life I am reaching for. I guess if life were TOO peaceful, there wouldn’t be growth and enlightenment? Anyway, life is good and I will look forward to your new classes and all things KBS this year. You enrich my life with your creativity and your goodness. Thank you and I wish you wonderful 2014!

Aja - December 27, 2013 - 6:56 am

Kerri,

What you have shared makes sense to me. I really hope that you find a way to focus. Before even writing your post, I had chosen focus as my word. What I realize I need to do is focus on what I’m trying to focus on…and seeing how you have gotten specific has helped me remember how to get started. Thank you!

Sue - December 28, 2013 - 1:46 am

Kerri, I had FOCUS as my word last year; its a great choice! I am rubbish at focusing on anything, flitting from one thing to another, never getting anything done. And I certainly got more done with this mantra, than if I hadn’t chosen it :) Wishing you lots of luck with your year of focus!

Stacey - December 29, 2013 - 10:38 am

Focus sounds like a perfect word for you. Isn’t it great how one word can just find you and help you so much?

I just picked my OLW for 2014. I’ve done a rough draft of my blog post and will look forward to sharing it next week.
