Why does chopped lettuce taste better than your regular salad-size pieces?

Is it just me???

I’ve so been digging buying a couple different types of lettuce, chopping it up, and having it on hand to eat for lunch or dinner.

What difference does it make in taste if it’s in tiny pieces?

I think it must give a better ratio in taste to the bite of all the tasty items on your salad.

Yeah, that’s gotta be what it is.

And speaking of tasty things, we tried German Pancakes for the first time last week.


You’d think that someone coming from a German heritage would have had German Pancakes before, but alas, I have not. Maybe it’s because I’m German from my grandpa’s side and my grandma–who was not German–did all the cooking. :)

If you’ve never had them, here’s the recipe.


Mix together:
6 eggs
1 c. flour

1 c. milk
1 t. salt
1 t. vanilla

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place a 1/2 cube of butter in an 8″ x 11.5″ pan and let melt in oven until butter starts to turn brown.

Remove from oven and pour in batter. Cook for 15 minutes.

It’s kind of souffle-ee, so expect some rising going on. It will also deflate as it sits once it’s removed from the oven–but it’s aaaaallllll good.

My friend says her favorite topping is seedless raspberry jam. I had it with strawberries and whip cream. My girls had it with maple syrup and whip cream. You could even put toppings on it like you would a crepe. Bananas maybe? The possibilities are really endless…and tasty!

I think we might like to try ham, cheese and onions someday–minus the vanilla, of course. Kind of like a German Pancake Omelette. I’ll let you know how it turns out. ;)
