one last little ‘happiness’

September 29th, 2011|laura vegas, pages|

Awwww, my ‘happiness’ month is coming to an end. I can’t believe September is almost over? Where the heck did it go??? You know what would make me super happy? To have my office look like this again:

Oh how I miss a clean office! There’s been a few little changes since this was taken–like no work Mac laptop, but my big mamma Mac, and a few other things. This photo is from two 1/2 years ago . . . and . . . has it ever been this clean since? lol Maybe this will be my project over the weekend while I’m watching/listening to our church’s General Conference.

Anyone want to take any bets on whether or not I can get it done??? ;)

Since this is the last week of ‘happiness’ month, that must mean we have one more design team chica that needs to share  a ‘happiness’ for her. Let’s see what Miss Laura did . . .

[Shapes | Going Places]

What a FABulous idea! Love that she documented all her adventures onto one page . . . and that it’s a layout without photos. See? It’s okay to have to not include photos on a page.

Here’s what Laura has to say about things.

I have never been a big traveler, and our family has never taken a real vacation. So it’s been a big change for me, as I’ve been doing quite a bit of traveling over the last two years, all for scrapbooking related work. I’ll be totally honest with you. I’m NOT a big fan of traveling. I think I have been on about 22 airplanes, over the past two years. I find that just getting to and from the events, completely wears me out and it takes me days to recover. BUT. The reason I put up with the traveling, is that once I get to where I’m going, I have so much fun. I love being able to teach other’s about scrapbooking and to be surrounded with scrapbookers that share that same passion as I do for paper and glue. So while the actual traveling doesn’t make me very happy, what I am traveling too makes me very happy.

something you just MAY wanna see :)

What exactly is a “B” side scrapper, you ask? Well, a “B” side scrapbooker is someone who almost always uses the “backside” of a 2-sided sheet of patterned paper. The “B” side is almost always a more understated, tone-on-tone or smaller design/pattern that the “A” side. This class will show you all the benefits of using the “B” side of your patterned papers plus give you lots of ideas on implementing them into not only your layouts but your card-making and other paper crafting crafts as well.

This bonus class will be available in early November after The Spawn of True Scrap Event is over and will include:

  • Exclusive content (layouts/projects that will never be shared anywhere else)
  • 30-45 minute instructional video
  • PDF handout
  • BONUS Digital Die Cut Kit/Photo Template by Kerri Bradford made exclusively for this class

Email Nichol a copy of your receipt after you sign up via THIS affiliate link to and she will add your name to the list for this exclusive class. This is just her small way of saying “thank you”. Please note you MUST use THIS LINK to sign up.

can you hear the angels singing???

September 26th, 2011|Uncategorized|

I’ve been waiting for that sound for quite some time.

The Store has arrived!

Oh my freakin’ heck!

I know what you’re all thinkin’ . . .

It’s about time! :)

Ya know . . . I didn’t realize just how much work 74 kits could be.
(Did I just say I have seventy-four kits???)

And there’s still much work to be done, but I wanted to get the site back up and rollin’.

Please make sure you purchase from the Store/Shopping cart from now on–do not purchase using the Add To Cart buttons in all the posts.

That’s next on my ‘t0-do’ list . . . edit all my posts to get rid of the old way.

Did I say yet that 74 kits was a lot of work? lol

So a little bit about the store.

If you notice on the right, I’ve got a section where they are divided into Style Categories, so you can find them sorted accordingly. Additionally there are Themes you can sort by, so can find anything to do with Christmas, Tags+Labels, etc. Sa-weeeet!

Use the Shopping Cart/Store to place your order. Once you head to Check Out, you will be asked for a little information and then be sent to PayPal to place the order. Afterwards you will follow the link and return to my site with download links . . . and an email will be sent to you as well to with your order and download link information.

It’s a glorious thing.

And a long time coming.

It’s all still a work in progress, so please be patient with me. :)

And we won’t talk about some of the aesthetic issues I need fixed or just want because I like things how I like them. That’s the downside of doing something like this yourself. Learning how to do it. Oh wait, wasn’t that my One Little Word for this year? Learn? Oh yeah. I knew that was appropriate for the year. ;)

I’m doin’ the happy dance here! I did just turn on some Earth, Wind + Fire, after all.

ham + swiss rolls

September 21st, 2011|recipes|

Just have to say, “Thank you Becky Higgins!”

These are a new family favorite!

[Photo by Becky Higgins | Click HERE to see Becky’s original post.]

24 rolls
12 thick slices deli ham (black forest)
12 slices Swiss cheese
1/2 c. melted butter
1 1/2 Tbsp. mustard
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp. poppy seeds

Slice rolls in half so they open. Spread mayo on top and bottom of the inside of each roll. Assemble rolls with ½ slice of cheese and ½ slice of ham. Place all of these in a baking pan or stone. Mix together the melted butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds with a whisk. Brush this mixture all over the tops of the rolls and cover with tin foil. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes until heated through.

I use French hamburger buns and use two slices of ham vs. the one. I also forgot to put the foil on while baking the first time we made them, but did it last night for dinner. I must say, I like the ‘no foil’ version better because it makes the bread a little crunchier. I think we all liked it better that way!

This is definitely worth adding to your dinner repertoire!

happiness is . . . traveling!

September 20th, 2011|nichol magouirk, pages|

Ohhhh, how I love to travel! I love a good adventure and see places I’ve never been before. Sadly, due to a couple of work conflicts, we couldn’t take our summer vaca. Oh the agony! And not getting to hang with my dear friend and her family….which I was so looking forward to….dang it.

Add to that, our neighbor heading to Amsterdam for work (I looove Amsterdam!!), Kass talking about seeing some photos of London and Edinburgh (also love), and yesterday at a neighborhood birthday brunch–discussing the fabulous Oregon Coast, where a few of us had been.

Sure. Rub it in. Just keep piling it on.

The travel gods are against me right now.

Curse ’em.

And, oddly enough, look what little Miss Nichol sent me!

Oh the irony of it all!!!

Salt anyone? :)

[Shapes | Storyboard 1 / TwentyTen / Escape / This & That Family + Summertime / Going Places]

love it.

love the combinations of all the different kits. love the striped paper she used to cut with. love the signage.

just love.

For Nichol:

One of the things that makes me happiest is traveling. Whether it be as a family or just my husband and I, I love to visit new places or even old favorites. As my husband and I prepare to go on a little weekend away here in a couple weeks, it’s gotten me excited for the pictures I will no doubt be taking and it reminded me to get finishing scrapping last fall’s little jaunt down the Pacific Coast. I absolutely love how Kerri’s photo templates make fitting several photos on a layout so simple and easy. Travel photos + photo templates = happiness!

I also wanted to say thank you so much for al the birthday wishes! You guys are so danged sweet!

Caroline? How was that piece of cake? ;)

Cathy…totally understand the two tuitions for college!

Denise…hope you had a lovely birthday yesterday. September is a great month. :)

Nancy, the stack of packages come from the T+T Christmas.

I had a lovely day. My bestie Kristy picked me up at “9:16” to get me for breakfast. We won’t talk about the ‘yellow-ish’ lights she went through to get there on time. lol Did a little window shopping and saw a movie. Had dinner with hubby (mine, not hers). Saturday was a beautiful day–72 degrees for the high and a skiff of snow on mountain tops. Soooo felt like fall! We won’t talk about the BYU-Utah game. Invited Dan’s parents over for dinner Sunday–for our birthdays. ;) And yesterday our neighborhood had a brunch, which also happened to be scheduled the same day as our little friends birthday lunch–Lisa Bearnson, Kristy Banks, and Vivian Grothe. Loni Stevens wasn’t able to make it. I think the five of us need to get together more often then every four months or so. ;) Love those girls.

Anyway, I think yesterday was the end of my celebratory ‘week’.

The princess now needs to get back to work, I guess.

reality . . . ;)

a birthday sellabration

September 16th, 2011|freebies|

That’s right.

Today’s my birthday.

I can admit it . . . I am 45 today.

Usually I let my birthday pass by pretty much like any other on my blog.

But this year, since 45 seems like such a mile marker to me
(it now means I’ll be closer to 50 than 40 ;)),
I thought I’d give a gift to you all.

Now through Sunday.

I know I’ve been a little sale crazy over the past couple months, but it’s really hard not to want to have fun like this. And I told you, I can think of any reason to party. :) I was telling my husband that I really don’t think of what I do as a business and I don’t think of you guys as ‘customers’–that word seems weird to me.

I think of you all as friends.

And I like doing fun things for my friends, so why not have another sale?

Although, I do have to say, this will be the last one for a while. :)

So if you’ve been thinking about doing the This+That kits for Christmas presents?
Now would definitely be the time to do that!

And today is a Friday, so you all know what that means . . .

. . . it’s a Friday Freebie!

One of my friends asked if I could make the “Happiness IS…” phrase that I’ve been showing on my blog this month into a shape, so here it is Miss Michele! :)

You can download it for free HERE.

The “IS” isn’t quite the same . . . can’t use that kind of grunge for this title. So it’s pretty close.

And then I thought I’d share a little project I was working on yesterday. Dan’s dad turns 80 this month and so I thought I’d share the invitation I made. While this doesn’t use one of the Snapshot templates, it does use clipping masks on the photos. Kind of gives you an idea how you can mix photos with text and all.

What I thought was just the cutest was Dan’s mom when she pulled out the young photo of her sweetheart and she said, “When I pulled this photo out, my heart just went pitter-patter.” ….still in love after all these years. :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

happy vs. unhappy

September 15th, 2011|nichol magouirk, pages|

Okay, let’s start with the ‘happy’ first! Check out what Nich0l-dear did with the Autumn kit! Yowza!!!

[Shapes | This & That: Autumn / This & That: Freedom (rooster) / Escape (‘good eats’) / Storyboard 2]

I think one of my favorite parts of this page (there are many) is how she used the ‘good eats’ from the Escape kit with the ‘grown here’ . . . and then wrapped the ‘d’ around the corn cob. It’s all in the details ba-by! And speaking of, don’t even get me started on the stamping of the diecuts. Maaahhhvelous!

Like I said the other day with Shari’s card, seeing the This & That kits used outside of that series?

It tickles me pink.

Now for the ‘unhappy’.

Yesterday was the season premier of Survivor.

I’ve been counting down the time.

I’ve been so excited.

I couldn’t wait.

I had a meeting.

Guess I’ll have to watch it on my computer today (I don’t have DVR anymore).

Don’t anyone tell me what happened or you will be banned from my blog for.e.ver. :)

On the upside, the meeting was a parent meeting for the play Jordan is in this year. Yup. She made the high school play. They are doing Children of Eden and she is in the main cast–she’s a story teller and pretty much on stage the whole time and singing. She was excited to have made it into the finals with only one other junior. The other six are seniors. On top of that, they got an adult (he’s a friend with the director and the music coordinator) to play ‘Father’ (God). He’s from the area and has been in a few Broadway plays, so we’re very excited about that! He sang us ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Miserables and did a fantastic job!

Sounds like this is going to be a very huge production this year!

Oh, and did I ever mention that Jordan finally took driver’s ed this summer–getting her permit–and is now in the mode of “can we go driving”? She had range last night (she couldn’t do it this summer during play practice) and asked if she could drive home. Uhhhh….okaaay…. It was fine until we hit construction on the main road by our house. Thank heavens for a red light and no one behind us so we could do our own Chinese Fire Drill and change places.

Night time + construction cones + new driver [could] = disaster. ;)

happiness is . . .

September 14th, 2011|pages, robyn werlich|

Ohhh, that darling Miss Robyn made something fabulous to share today!

[Shapes | Picture That Storyboard / This & That: Lucky / This & That: Gratitude / Modern Nature]

Just love all the tiny little details on this! The stamping, the stitching, all the little words and phrases . . . gorgeous.

And my little ‘happiness’ today?

Loved this little moment with our cat, Sam.

The cat loooves to be with you, but not with you. He accepts the pick up and pet for a couple minutes–you know he likes it because he just gets a-purrin’. More recently, he’s actually been sitting with me while I hold him, but that doesn’t happen often. He’ll always sit at the end of the bed, often sleeps with one of the kids in the house, but never up by you (which can be a good thing–lol). He definitely has his moments of being loved, but not held, and definitely not choosing to come by you to be loved.

But I think the past couple weeks of feeding him snacks in my lap have finally paid off. Bribery. Who’d have thought. He purrs like no other and eats his snacks. But when they’re gone . . . he’s done. Except this day. He actually just walked over to the foot rest of the chair and laid there at my feet for about 20 minutes.

Making progress.

He’s never been a real cuddly cat. Even as a kitten. He’ll have his moments, but generally . . .
he always wants to be with you, not with you.

Luckily I had my new toy on hand to capture the moment. ;)
(sorry it’s not the best photo, but it’ll d0.)

Just lettin’ ya know that I have surprise for y’all on Friday, so stay tuned for that!

And thanks for all the fun birthday wishes for the old man in my life . . . uhhhh, I mean that hunk-a-hunk of burnin’ love in my life. :)

today’s word: happy

September 13th, 2011|laura vegas, pages|

Happy #1

I just have to do a big shout out to this guy (yes, he’s my husband) since it’s his birthday today. 49. Crazy!

happy birthday honey!

I know he’d much rather be doing this than working today. ;)

Happy #2

Here is the second happy for the day. Check out this layout that Laura Vegas did!

[Shapes | Scroll Border: Borderlines 2 / Totally Happy: Say What 1 / Photo Template: Storyboard 1]
I love the clean lines of this page! Love how she used the photo template and mixed a title within it. I also love the roughed up edges and stitching! Fabulous.

Happy #3

Here’s what makes Laura happy. :)

There are a lot of things that make me happy in life, like my family and friends. Since I scrapbook about them all the time, I thought I would do a fun layout about something else that makes me really happy. Music. I L-O-V-E music. Whether I have it playing on the radio in the car, on my IPod while I’m scrapping, on ITunes when I’m working on the computer, or when my girls have it playing in their rooms. If there is music playing, I can guarantee you that you will find me singing along, boppin’ in my chair, or dancing around the house. I love all kinds of music, but I wanted to focus on my love of Country music for this layout. I did Google searches, to find photos of some of my favorite artists and groups, and printed them out in one of Kerri’s fabulous digital templates. This layout is a quick glance at the faces behind the music, that makes me happy!

Happy #4

The weather outside is goooooorgeous!!! Upper 70s this week. Windows open all the time.
I am in heaven!

a fun week in store!

September 12th, 2011|cards, photo templates, shari carroll|

It’s a party week here in the Bradford house as hubby and I both bring on the celebratory events of another year passing by in our simple little lives. As of tomorrow, my hubby will be counting down his final days of 40-dom. Shh. Don’t tell him I told you that.

I don’t have any issues with getting older–no crying and hiding out in my room as “another dreadful day” passes. But I do think it’ll be weird when we are in our 50s. That’s gettin’ into grandparent territory and I ain’t no grandma. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…just not ready for that yet. :)

So since we’re partyin’ all week here at our house (heck, don’t us chicas’ birthdays generally last a week anyway?), I thought we should party here on the site too! Okay, let’s face it, I’ll just think of any reason to party (I say as I’m boogying out to disco on Pandora). ;)

Therefore, the amazing and fabulous design team are here to share their talent this week! Yahoo!

Here’s something from that darling Shari Carroll.
I tell ya, when I see projects made from the This & That kits, I just get giddy.

love this!

[Shapes | This & That: Halloween]

Totally love how she stamped and inked the entire project giving it dimension and deliciousness!

.   .   .   .   .   .

Next on the agenda? A brand new template kit!

I’ve had a few request for templates that are specifically for 4×6 and 5×7–especially with the holidays just around the corner. Additionally, I’ve had requests to make a template that has 2×3 photo sizes that can be used with Project Life, but of course it can be used for anything. And then I just had to throw in a couple of 4×8 templates.

So . . . voila! Here ya go!

Do you ever just have those a-ha moments? Or an accidental a-ha moment? Or would that be a serendipitous moment?

Well, in making this kit I discovered a fun new way to add variety in comparison to what I’ve done previously.

You know me and variety.

You would use this kit, pretty  much like you have with all the other storyboard kits–using the aqua–or Photo–layers to clip your photo too. However, now with this kit you have more three choices. You can use it plain, you can add the rounded frame layer, or you can add the straight frame layer. Just click on the “eye” of the corresponding layer in the Layers palette to turn it on or off.

But wait, there’s more! Okay, maybe not more, but more choice. :) You aren’t limited to using the frame in black (although I loooove black). But you could change it to white or a complementary color just by using your Paint Bucket tool on that layer. And again, you don’t have to use a frame. You can simply use the template as a photo collage–no frame.

variety. variety!

And one of my favorite choices is the Photobooth template. On these examples I . . . created it just with the normal pics, I used the Seventies action (from The Pioneer Woman), and then I changed the photos to b+w . . . leaving the Seventies action still in play. Love how you can play with these for completely different looks!

The templates work with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

And there you have the first day of the Bradford celebratory week. :)
