friday freebie | all done up

Somebody stop me! I can’t seem to stop with the Halloween decorations!

And today’s project combines the Friday Freebie with a shape cut in vinyl from the This Is Halloween kit.

[ Supplies | Halloween Definition Paper: Friday Freebie / Beware+Crow: This Is Halloween / Lantern+Candle: IKEA / Bling: House of 3 / Damask ribbon by The Ribbon Boutique: Hobby Lobby ]

I love the dimensionalness (yeah, it’s a word) of this project.

So you’re probably looking at the images and scratchin’ your noggin’ thinkin’, “What and where the heck is the Friday Freebie???”

Oh. That would be the definition paper that’s been melted to the candle!

It looks like this:

[You can download this image for free from HERE.]

Simply put, you print this onto tissue paper, trim to size, and then use your embossing gun to heat it to the candle. The wax melts and saturates the tissue paper. I learned this nifty little trick from the amazing Heidi Swapp in this video tutorial that she made:

Soooo fun!! I loooooove that she shared this idea!

The candle would be cute done up with ribbons and tags and given as neighbor gifts too.

I thought it would be fun to add some black or orange…or black+orange…foo foo in the bottom of the lantern too. Maybe some kind of glittery garland or grass. But since I didn’t have that at my finger tips, I opted for the orange flower.

Well? There’s another decoration. Just one more that I can think of for right now. I’ve got my eyes set on that “Candy Candy Candy Candy” image (can you just hear Garfield saying that?).

LOVE the freebie! Thank you! I’m having so much fun making Halloween cards. I feel like I’m already behind on my Christmas cards.
