last minute gifts | day two

First, I just want to say how much I’m enjoying reading all your fun gift ideas!
If y’all haven’t read them? You should!

So our party is still goin’ on!

Did you see the darling bottle tag that Corri made over on Lori’s site yesterday? So fun!
‘Round these parts we might put that on a bottle of Sprite too. ;)

So now, let’s see what we’ve got goin’ on from . . .

I saw many-a Starbucks gift cards as your Last Minute Gift idea.

Hello? Can we say perfect?

[ Shapes | This+That Winter (snowflakes). From Lori | Box with Bracket Flap (SVGs on Lori’s site. Also in Silhouette store.) ]

Here’s what Laura has to say:

I often make little cards, or envelopes, for giving out gift cards. I didn’t set out to create this fun box, for holding a gift card. But it turned out, that the size I chose to cut my box in was quite a bit smaller than I realized, once I assembled the box. It turned out to be the perfect little size for a gift card. I used a few snowflakes from Kerri’s This & That Winter: Shapes Only kit, and adhered them to the front of the box using glitter brads.

Hmmm . . . what else did Laura make?

Well how fun is this? Little boxes to hold photos to send to grandpa and grandma!
 What a great idea!

[ Shapes | Life Additions + Modern Nature. From Lori | Photo Box (SVGs on Lori’s site. Also in Silhouette store.) ]

Here’s what Laura has to say:

When I saw Lori’s Photo Box, I knew I wanted to create a few, for sharing photos with family over the holidays. I have family members that we only see a few times a year, and Christmas is always one of those times. I tend to save up photos of our family, and my girls, and hand them out when we see everyone. I think it’ll be so much cooler to hand them out in such adorable little boxes. And the recipients can easily keep them in the box, until they’re ready to find a home for them. I embellished the front of the box, with a loopy frame from Kerri’s Life Additions #1 kit, and some pretty flowers from her Modern Nature kit.

And for the guys in your life? How’s about these!

[ Shapes | The Ol’ Ballgame. From Lori | Bracket Closure Box (SVGs on Lori’s site. Also in Silhouette store.) ]

Seriously. How cool would those be to take to a family or work party?

Here’s what Laura has to say:

With several golfers in my family, golf balls are a very popular gift of choice around here at Christmas time. There are usually a few boxes under the Christmas tree, or tucked in stockings. Instead of the leaving them in their original boxes, I thought it would be fun to create a more unique box to hold them in. Lori’s Bracket Closure Box was the perfect shape for it. When I adjusted the size of the box to fit the width of the golf balls, the box ended up being just long enough to hold four golf balls. I also cut the “Play Hard” title from Kerri’s The Ol’ Ballgame kit. I love the grungy look to it.

Such great fun Laura! Thanks so much for sharing those amazing ideas!

Now. How’s about a little freebie?!

Laura, I know what you mean about those sweet boxes! They look so wonderful but when I cut them out it’s like “hmmmm! What’s gonna fit in this darling LITTLE thing?” I love the idea of the photo boxes and the fact that you KNOW the box is acid free, etc. is great! Your design on the box is very cool! I’m sure that they’ll be appreciated and enjoyed both from the inside and out! Thanks for sharing your great ideas! rgauss at sbcglobal dot net!
Lori, I hope you’re not offended that your stocking had to be labeled as #2 because I apparently have another file with the EXACT same name in my Christmas cuts folder! Who knew;-) I’m sure it’s a “saving the best for last” kinda thing, though!

This is looking like a fun week ahead! You have such an amazing team Kerri and I am so excited to see what the next year brings!
Adore those boxes of Lauras, I never know what to do with them.

P.S. I have not been able to dwnld the free images from google docs?
What am I doing wrong? Not sure if you see this but when I select the “studio” version and I get the pop up from google I say save, nothing. I say save as , nothing.
Any ideas why cant I get it to dwnld?

    • Kerri December 6, 2011 at 5:52 pm

      Hey Beth!
I’m not sure why you’d be getting that. It works for me. Make sure you click on Download rather than Save to Google Docs and see if that makes a difference. Then open it. If that doesn’t work, try clicking on Download Original in the upper right corner and see if that helps.

And Colleen, to cut files in Silhouette Studio you’ll want to use the STUDIO file formats. I don’t have any ‘print + cuts’ though at this point in time. They are either a cut file, a PNG version of the cut file, or a set of printable PNG files. With the This+That kits, I tried to make them user friendly no matter what cutter you have. So most of the printables are pretty easy to cut with just a trimmer.

      Hope that helps!
      kerri

  39. Kristen S December 6, 2011 at 7:18 pm

Wow- great inspiration. Thanks for the free printables- adorable!

  44. ConnieC December 6, 2011 at 9:30 pm

Thanks for the freebie. And I love the projects. I have 80% of the files needed to put together the projects here and on Lori’s blog. I’m adding the other 20% to my buy list.

  45. Julia December 6, 2011 at 9:48 pm

I love your freebies but I never download because I am not sure which one to download for my silhoutte. Which file should I choose?

    • Kerri December 6, 2011 at 9:52 pm

      Hey Julia!
You can download them all just by clicking on the Download Original in the upper right corner. That’s what gives you the ZIP file for all of them. If you have a Silhouette you’d want STUDIO and PNG files for sure. If you’re using a Cricut that can use SVG files, then you’d want that. I say download the ZIP file so that you’ll always have whichever format you may need. :)

I don’t like that Google does it this way now. It used to be that you just download the ZIP file and that was that. Oh well.

      Hope that helps! :)
