happy new year!

A brand new year.

A brand new outlook.

A new year always brings hope of good things to come.

It’s promising.

It’s exciting.

Why do you think that is?

It just seems like it’s a flip of the calendar.
But you can’t help be excited about new things to come–what the new year will bring.

I think that’s what’s so fun about doing Ali Edwards’ One Little Word.

Last year my word was grow.

I had no idea at the time just how that would become so significant to me.

In my little business world? grow.grow.grow.
Growth in learning and teaching and meeting new about-the-world friends and all that good stuff.

Personally? Was I a better person and mother?
Eh. I’d say status quo.

Which is what brings me to my One Little Word today.

In typical KB fashion, I’ve got my own word.
Two words that I feel really strongly about–I couldn’t just choose one word.
I have to focus on both.

So I made it one word.

And here it is . . .

I need to find balance in my life.

I need to not go through periods of totally consumableness (yeah, it’s a word) when working on certain projects for work. When I do that, my home life gets seriously off balance. Not to mention I have days of not showering until late in the day causing what I call, ‘ugly day.’ Creating classes or working on a graphic design job have a tendency to produce consumableness.

That’s why I desperately need to focus on balance.

And then there’s the document side of my word.

Something I am feeling very passionate about and–as you can tell–I am focusing whole heartedly on it this year with my class.

So obviously I was in quite a dilemma when having to choose just one word.
And to stay within the scope of one little word? I made my own.

Because I can.

It’s just what I do. :)

Here’s wishing you all a Happy New Year and that your brand new year brings you everything you hope for!

Balancement…I like that. My word is STOP. No idea what this will hold for the new year but I am excited about seeing the end results. I think there’s more to it than the usual stop complaining, stop sitting on your bum all day, stop procrastinating, stop crying…I think it’s more along the lines of STOP, be still and know that I am GOD!

Balancement…the time between stabilizers and riding free on a brand new bike!

    Have a wonderful day Kerri!
