August 30th, 2013|freebies|

Well? It’s that time. It’s the last Friday of the summer. Before you know it those lovely leaves in all their glorious shades of green will be turning into golden yellows, brilliant oranges, and deep reds.

So here’s a little something for summer . . . and fall. ;)

To download this freebie, click the image or click HERE.
(And ya know? It could double as a tree.)

And now, the Summer of the Friday Freebie is officially over. But never fear, freebies will continue to always be a part of KBS. You just never know when they might make an appearance. ;)

No, not me me. This is Laura ‘me’:) Just poppin’ in with a quick share from that Laura girl. Sooooo love this! It’s funny how things come together serendipitously (read her story below). It’s perfect!

[ Shapes | twentyTHIRTEEN (2013) / Heart Backgrounds / This & That: Freedom (sunburst) / Background Basics (circle background) / The History Project class freebies (“me”) ]

Here’s what Laura has to say:

This layout was actually a happy accident. When I set out to make my next project for Kerri, I had every intention of creating a 6×6″ mini album full of die cut background pieces, titles, and photo collages. I started cutting away, creating a variety of 6×6″ background pieces and lots of titles. I cut every single piece from white textured cardstock, and then used Heidi Swapp’s Color Shine Spritz to add color to each piece. Along the way, I changed my mind on the project, going from a mini album, to a two page spread in divided page protectors, and finally settling on a one page layout. I finally decided to use 5 of my background pieces (that I had already stapled onto 6×6 white cardstock pieces), adhering 4 of the silver misted backgrounds to the page, and adding the yellow misted sunburst background to the center. I had already cut and adhered the “2013” to the center of my sunburst, and added the “me” underneath. Although it didn’t turn into the idea I originally had in my head, I now have a fun divider page for my “All About Me” album. Now I need to make divider pages for all of the other years ;)

there is something new a-comin’!

And it’s just around the corner.
On September 17 you will be able to get this fun little Project Life beauty on HSN!

(I may or may not have had a hand in this. ;) )

let the countdown begin!

August 25th, 2013|classes|

I can’t believe it!

The new Design Secrets class begins in a week! Yowza! I feel like Santa in his workshop as I’m trying to get everything finished and ready to go for next week.

But I thought I’d take a minute and pop in today and share a

[digital] sneak peek at another one of the projects we’ll be doing.

mint. yellow. grey.

Kind of makes me happy. :)

I’m always just amazed at how powerful Silhouette Studio can be.
It’s pretty awesome.

And in case you wanted a sneak peek at some of the freebies in the class?
I do believe I can accommodate.

One last note here . . .

The sale price only lasts until the class starts,
so it’s a-goin’ away come Monday, September 2.

If you wanted to save a few dollars–even if you just saved the class like you save some chocolate in a drawer for when you have a craving–you’d best be doing it now because it won’t be on sale again until who knows when.

I’m all about saving a buck when possible. :)

friday freebie  |  amazing

August 23rd, 2013|freebies, naomi atkins, pages|

Summer is winding down. Many kids have even started back to school already. So crazy! But I have to admit, I’m getting anxious for fall! I bought me some new jeans and I just kind-a wanna wear ’em. Okay, so I have worn them this week, but I wasn’t really going anywhere so it wasn’t too hot for me. ;)

So we’re winding down on the big ol’ Summertime Friday Freebie. Again, can’t believe it! Just one more regular Friday Freebie after this. Oh, they will still make their appearances, but probably won’t be every week. :)

So today’s Friday Freebie is all about the ‘amazing’ summer adventures you need to record. Of course, it’s perfect for many more projects than just that.

To download this file click the image or click HERE.

And so speaking of amazing, check out what our darling Miss Naomi has made with a previous summertime freebie. Great page! Love all the photos that she has using the photo template!

[ Shapes | Storyboard 8 / Summertime icon / In Transit (Summer) ]

Such great photos! And love the use of the ‘subway’ art with it!

Here’s a few words from Naomi:

The storyboard is so easy for lots of vacation photos!! Love them!!!!!!!! I placed the sweet summertime free circle graphic in the center of the storyboard with a pop dot. And I used the Summertime subway art from “InTransit” and then misted and painted different colors over it and then added some sequins to the top.  :)

Next week, September is on the calendar.

I said it.

And I’m excited for it. I’m not gonna lie.

Don’t forget to enter in the Rad Lab contest in the previous post! It ends at midnight!

more rad lab fun + coupon + giveaway!

August 21st, 2013|photography, totally rad|

You know, as I wrote that title, I was just beside myself! We have quite a day in store today!

A couple weeks ago I shared my love for Rad Lab in this post. Rad Lab is a plug-in from Totally Rad that works with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Lightroom.

It’s awesome.

It’s a life saver.

As I said previously, it can rock your photo world . . . and that’s no lie.

I’ve been using the actions and Rad Lab from Totally Rad for several years–give or take and they make photo editing a breeze. Check out the video I made in that previous post.

I thought it might be fun today to share some more photos and ‘recipes’ that I used to edit them to see just how many fabulous versions you can make on a photo.

This photo just makes me want to go back to Amsterdam . . . bad. I loved how all the bikes and cars just harmoniously rode together on the streets. That was rush hour. And if you live in Amsterdam and it’s really otherwise, don’t burst my happiness bubble. ;)

As you can see in the After photo, the changes made just added a whole different vibe to the photo. Kind of gave it a more nostalgic look.

Here’s a screen shot of the changes I made:

I’m kind of afraid to know what BAMF stands for on the B+W filter I used (lol), but it’s seriously awesome and probably appropriately named. And you’re thinking to yourself, ‘Wait, that photo ain’t no black+white.’ Well, that’s the beauty of some of these filters . . . you can change the Effect Strength so it only uses a partial part of the B+W filter.

Now let’s take a look at some of that B+W in a whole other way.

New York City. Is there any town more iconic? The energy that resides there–day and night. There’s nothing like it. That’s why I loved changing the look of this photo that I took out of the front window of the bus to this contrasty, grungy, black and white photo. It says NYC to me.

Here’s a look at the changes I made to it. Again, hovering over the Stylets available gives you an instant view of what will happen if you choose it. And the beautiful Rad Lab will allow you to alter various parts of that Stylet.

Last, but not least, here’s an engagement photo of my nephew and his (now) wife.

This was seriously one of the most fun photo shoots I’ve done. It makes it easy when you have a great location combined with two theater people and several . . . ehem . . . ‘costume’ changes.

With this photo I wanted an old + faded vintage look. Rad Lab to the rescue! Just a few clicks and voila!

Again, changes in intensities gets me exactly what I want–just a little slider. It’s so easy. You can see I added Skinny Jeans and unchecked it because it didn’t achieve the look I wanted. I want ‘skinny jeans’ any time I can get, but as a Stylet it just wasn’t workin’ for this photo.

Seriously. Love this little program. The Totally Rad guys are geniuses! :) And if you haven’t gotten their Pic Tap Go on your iPhone/iPad? You are seriously missing out! (check out my review HERE)

And because of this passion for this little program, I decided to become an affiliate with them. I never promote anything I don’t believe in much less put a link for it on my sidebar. But I love this program that much.

And becoming an affiliate has its perks. (insert great big smile here)

If any of you are interested in this fabulous program–or any of the other fun things that Totally Rad has to offer, I have a coupon code for 15% off for you to use! Yahoo!

Just use the code 1543KERRI at checkout and you just saved yourself some bucks.

love that.

But wait. It gets better!

Guess what else I have today!

That’s right boys and girls!
One lucky person will win their
very own copy of Rad Lab!

Great googlie mooglie! How awesome is that???

Here’s how you can get multiple chances to win.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I’ll draw a winner Saturday morning.

Thanks Totally Rad!
You guys rock!

two weeks from today . . .

August 19th, 2013|classes|

. . . this starts.

Are you signed up yet? :)

The sale price goes away on September 2,
so if you wanted to save a few bucks?
Now would be the time.

friday freebie | wizarding fun

August 16th, 2013|freebies, projects, silhouette|

This past week we did our annual girls camp. Love this time. Love spending some QT with my daughters and my dear friends–Lisa Bearnson + Kristy Banks–and their daughters.

It’s always an adventure and we never seem to have enough time. Games, food, laughing, crafting . . . it’s all good fun up in the mountains getting away from the cares of it all.

Of course we don’t rough it. Yes, there are 5th wheels with kitchens, showers, tvs and plenty of beds. But all that just adds to the glamping experience of it all. And how on earth would we be able to make these fun sweatshirts without my trusty Silhouette, heat transfer and an iron.

Everyone had black sweatshirts and a good chunk of them wanted the designs with The Deathly Hallows on the front and the ‘I solemnly swear I am up to no good’ on the back–thanks to Jordan’s original request (she’s been waiting for it for a while too). It was a simple enough task for me to design and I think they turned out rather fun. I would share a photo of them wearing them, but considering we didn’t get to do them until late last night and I know that they won’t want me to post their ‘I just woke up and have been camping all week’ photo for thousands of people to see, we’ll just go with these. :)

(like i said, it was night when i was ironing.)

That phrase goes across the bottom of the backside of the sweatshirt and it looks so danged cute! Then they placed the Deathly Hallows symbol about 9″ wide on front. Lisa, who isn’t considered a Harry Potter fan, was seriously thinking about having one because they were just so danged fun!

I also designed these shirts for Kristy’s daughter and her little friend.

The phrase (that Kristy wanted) says, ‘My favorite number of the alphabet is purple.’ And the quirkiness of the whole thing was topped off by the fact that I only had white and green heat transfer, so we put ‘purple’ in green. (ha ha) And then we added their names on the back side.

So the whole time I was cutting these out, all I kept thinking was, ‘My readers will want this once I show it.’ :) Therefore, I bring  you today’s Friday Freebie!

To download it, click the image or click HERE.

This also includes just plain footprints so that if you wanted to
add your own phrase, you could do that too.

I just don’t think we got to spend near enough time. It just flies! So I guess for now I’ll just have to look at some photos like this one and dream of being there.

Until next year….

limited time only

August 14th, 2013|digital shapes|

Because Nichol rocked those sunflowers in Monday’s post,
I’ve been getting requests for the 30-petal flower shape,
which is only available in the ‘Oh The Places You Will Go’ class freebies.

On occasion I put the class freebies up for sale for a limited time so that those of you
without a Silhouette can use them with other cutters or even to use digitally.

Well, now is the time to pick them up because
they are in the store today and available through Sunday only.

The last time these were available were during Christmas last year,
so who knows when they’ll be up again. :)
