Believe it or not, I do not consider myself to be an artist. Sure I can manipulate shapes and lines to make something fun in 2D land, but to be able to sit down and paint something with haaaappy little clouds and haaaaappy little flowers? (hello PBS+Bob Ross)

Uh uh. Not happening.

My grandma tried to teach me to paint when I was young and well, let’s just say I should keep my day job.

I can handle something on a simple 2D level. And I’ve always had good handwriting–even my kids were shocked at my penmanship skills in first grade.

So that’s why I’m so excited about this class that I’ve just signed up for at Studio Calico.

Doesn’t that just look gorgeous in every sense of the word? I just want to be surrounded in a circle by all that too…and maybe roll around in it as well. It’s just that cool.

And the beauty of this type of art is that its imperfections is what makes it so perfect! You don’t have to be perfect with the handwriting. It’s all about having fun and getting–for lack of a better word–sloppy and it’s beautiful!

Check out this page too. Isn’t it just yummy?

love the brush script handwriting that’s so popular right now! I have a hunch that Kal Barteski and Studio Calico may have had a hand in that popularity. ;) And I’m seriously tickled pink to get to learn how to do it with them. They do good stuff…yes, indeed.

And now, you can have the opportunity to take this class too because…

Studio Calico has given me a seat to give away to one of my lucky readers!

That’s right baby!

To be entered, like this post on Facebook and then leave a comment here on the blog with your name, where your from and a word that you want to write in brush script, and I’ll draw a winner on Saturday. My first word to try just might be my One Little Word, focus.

Oh yeah. I cannot tell you how seriously excited I am to expand my artistic horizons–even if it’s just in black and white.

GINNA CUMLEY- JANUARY 7, 2014 – 5:44 PM
Hi this is Ginna. I live in Colorado north of Denver. I just got my 1st set of Project Life goodies. Got the awesome overlays TOO! My main goal is to “STOP REINVENTING THE WHEEL” every time I sit down to do a scrap book page. Pockets seem like a great solution.

Congratulations Ginna! Email me at kerri@kerribradford.com and I’ll get you on your merry way!
