Ahhh…it’s the day of love. A day of particularly expressing one’s affection to another. A day of chocolates, eating out, hugs, kisses, cards, candy…an all around fun day, I’d say.
I recently went through a little treasure box of things from when I was eight and found these Valentines.
Nothing says I
love like you like a lion wearin’ a crown. ‘No lion.’ And these babies are almost forty years old. Does that make them vintage? (I’m not vintage though.) All but the big girl+hearts one were given to me by boys.
What does that say about my mentality in the 3rd grade?
The big one was given to me by my teacher, just fyi.
Luckily we don’t have to wait for Valentines Day to express our love. I hope that every day you give your kid or spouse a hug, tell them you love them, give them the sign language ‘I Love You’ (I do that a lot here), hold their hand for a minute, or any other gesture.
Love is what makes the world go around.
And that’s what brings us to today’s page by the lovely Miss Nichol. Capturing expressions of love between a grandma and a child. Love doesn’t get much simpler and sweeter than this.
So seriously. Pore over this page and notice all the tiny little details. I think my favorite thing has got to be that camera! Love the stripes! I also love the blend of the ‘kiss kiss’ and ‘love you’. That’s awesome together.
Here’s what Nichol has to say:
One of my favorite ways to scrapbook older photos from my pre-digital days is to frame them up. Because I can’t alter these photos in editing software framing takes the emphasis off of the less than perfection of the photos and allows for the memories and emotion to take center stage. I used an old cut file Kerri created for the Silhouette Store on my page to frame up these photos of my oldest son when he was little with my mom. I only had three photos for the six frames so I filled the open frames with die cut embellishments that helped tell my story. Hearts and the camera make for fun embellishments and a good title always makes the page, IMO! I paired Kerri’s “Kiss Kiss” title from her February Fourteen Kit with one of her free cut files. I am always a big fan of mixing and matching cut files to make one-of-kind page and paper crafting designs!
You have been warned. ;)
I hope you all have a wonderful day full of love.
Happy Valentines Day!
