hello there  •  week-long showcase

I think that one of my all-time favorite classes here at KBS is the Hello There card class. Okay, maybe it’s a toss-up with Just Add Color and Design Secrets. (We’ll see if Here There Everywhere class takes over as number one eventually. ;) )

The class shows how to create ten fabulous cards that not only are fun to make, but what you learn adds to your Silhouette repertoire of design skills that you can use on any project, not just cards.

That’s why I though it would be fun to do a little showcase on the class with the help of our good friend Miss Nichol Magouirk. Now, I don’t know if you’ve noticed lately, but she’s been on a total card kick lately. I am constantly in awe of all the amazing cards she’s been creating. You’ll have to go check out her blog to see what I’m talkin’ about.

Her mission:  Take what was learned in class and make something new.

Yowza. So much fun!

Wanna see what she has for us today?

Alrighty then!

Up first today is a darling Easter card. It is just around the corner…like Sunday!

Seriously? Did I just say that?

Anywho, let’s first take a look at Nichol’s adaptation on the original cupcake card.

A few added sprinkles to the cupcake, a change of sentiment, and voila! She’s made it her own.

And now here’s a look at the Easter card.

Looooove this!
This is one of my favorite cards from the class.

Let’s hear what Nichol has to say about these little beauties.

I made one card almost exactly like the class project (just changed the front greeting a bit). I added some white “dots” to the cupcake with an opaque white gel pen and some gitter to the flag banner with a giltter pen.

Then I had the idea of taking the chick from the This+That: Spring kit and filled it with color to make an Easter card. I made “eggs” from ovals (nothing fancy). I cut some cupcake boxes from a design in the Silhouette store, punched a hole in the corner of the tags and tied them to the cupcake boxes!

Sorry. I couldn’t resist. ;)

And now, if you’ve been thinking about taking the class,
this would be a good time to do so!

You can save 20% on the class through the end of the week.

(The price is reflected in the store.)

This is just the beginning of a very fun week! Can’t wait to see what other fun stuff Nichol has up her card-making sleeve. :)
