[ Designs | A Folky Christmas Tree / Just Because (joy)

How stinkin’ cute are these?

I love all the different colors and patterns. It just looks all so danged festive!

Here’s what Laura has to say:

I came across a cute wooden Christmas tree on Pinterest, and asked Kerri if she could create something similar as a cut file. I knew it would make a great design to use on Christmas cards, although I’m also picturing it being used to create a fun wall décor piece. I knew I wanted to keep my cards fairly flat, so they would be easier to mail. I love creating cards that can be mass produced, and this was one of those.

I chose a few tone-on-tone patterned papers for creating the trees, and cut several sets from each color at once. For the base of my cards, I cut pieces of white cardstock just slightly smaller than my card and embossed them using a snowflake embossing folder. I spritzed each one with coordinating colors of misting spray, and did some machine stitching around the edges. Then I started piecing together my trees and adding my sentiment, which is a combination of the die cut “joy” (taken from Kerri’s Just Because kit) and some tiny alpha stickers.

Love them Laura! Such a fun idea for some quick cards for the holidays!

I LOVE this design! Simple, fun, and would be easy to whip out. I still haven’t settled on a Christmas card design (due to being focused on trying to finish up crochet projects in time for Christmas gifts!) but this might help me actually commit to getting some Christmas cards done! Thanks for creating and sharing this!

First of all, thank you for all the fun freebies. I am excited to use them in my DD and other Christmas projects this year. I had a question (that is probably obvious to most, but I am technically challenged!). :) In the zip file there are many different files – SVG, PNG, DXF, AI, etc. Could you tell me what they are all for and which ones I should use for the Silhouette, just to print, or PSE? Thank you so much!

  13. Michele Clay December 2, 2014 at 3:01 pm

Just my style!! Thanks much to Laura & Kerri!!

  14. Barbara Dundas December 2, 2014 at 7:59 pm

Thank you for the freebie, trying to use them in PSE with no luck, is this file just to print out?

    • Kerri December 2, 2014 at 8:59 pm

There are cut files, but there is also a PNG file to use in PSE for digital crafting. :)
