I’m back…kind of.

Wow. Our little family just had an amazing trip to Chicago this past week. Ate great food. Saw many a-fabulous thing. Walked 35 miles (say what?). Lots of laughs. Lots of tired. Just wanna hang out in bed all day…but that could be in part due to the fact that I started coming down with some kind of cold our last night there. Maybe I shouldn’t have been walking in the rain–or maybe I should have at least brought my umbrella.

Woke up this morning and enjoyed a nice simple bowl of Rice Chex. Funny how that can taste so good. But I do have to admit, eating out here is going to be the pits in comparison to all the great places we ate at in Chicago. I think our trip was half photographic and half eating.

I will share all the details of our trip soon, but I actually have to gear up for trip #2 on Friday with my daughter. She and I are headed to NYC for more photographing and eating. ;)

I know what you’re thinking, ‘What the heck are you doing planning two trips like that together??’

Yeah. Me too.

Well, Kass and I planned a trip for her graduation from college during a Southwest sale. Like a week later, there was another sale.

Our wanderlusting-daydreaming family should never be allowed to sit around and talk when there’s an airline sale going on because before we knew it, kids were volunteering to pay for their own tickets. And with the prodding of Dan–who never wants to spend money–we were buying tickets to Chicago. Since they all wanted to see a Cubs game, it happened to be right before our NYC trip.

So, I have three days to get my feet to unswell, laundry done, caught up on work and ship stamps, and hopefully kick this cold that’s coming.

So on that note, I’ll leave you with three little words that have been a part of my life for several years, and now it’s a family phrase.

We love Chicago.

Hello Kerrie, I recently found your blog and decided to follow you because you are amazing! My dau, grandson and I will be heading to Chicago next month, please share the good eats that you enjoyed. I am on a mission for Truffle fries on this trip, but I hope to visit a few non-tourist options as well.

As a teacher, I’m exposed to all kinds of germs. Another teacher recommended Michael’s Quick Immune Response when ever you get that feeling you’re coming down with something, & I love it! I got mine from Amazon.

I lived on Long Island the first 13 years of my life, then our family transferred to Chicago. Although I live in Indiana now, Chicago is what I consider my home (suburbs). You are so fortunate to visit two amazing cities and yes TONS of amazing food! Get well soon and have fun!
