The Boys of Fall + GIVEAWAY

It is another fine and fabulous day here during our team up week with Bella Blvd! I loved seeing all the goodness yesterday in both places, didn’t you?

And today, not only do we get to see some awesomeness from Miss Layle, but we’re doing a giveaway! So, be sure to check out the details below.

I love what Layle has shared with us today. Oddly enough, last Friday night Kass and I were chasing the sunset. I could tell it was going to be a good one (and it sure was!) and so we drove around to see if there was a great photo op. Somehow we wound up over by Zach’s alma mater, Timpanogos High School. I looked over to the football fields as I drove by and said to Kass, ‘I miss watching the football games.’ And she concurred.

It’s funny how that gets to be so ingrained in your life during a short bit of time. He’s almost 26 now, by the way.

So let’s hear and see what Layle has to say about her sons’ football season.

If you like football, country music, Kenny Chesney…  If you’re a football mom & have a son who’s playing high school football, has in the past, or will be in the future…  You may know this song, “The Boys of Fall”.  And hey, if none of those apply to you, the title still works for this layout about our 2 high school football players :)

I’m a football mom.  For the last 7 years, July through November, our family has lived and breathed it.  To say I have taken tens of thousands of football photos is not an exaggeration!  But truth be told I’ve only scrapped a small handful of the boys’ photos from over the years.  I mean really, when you think about it, how many football (insert ANY sport here!) photos can you scrap before they all start looking the same?!  But not this one, this one holds a special place in my heart and it needed to be scrapped all on it’s own.

I’ve had this song and this photo jumbling around in my head for the last few weeks;  our oldest is a senior and he recently played his last football game.  I knew at some point I wanted to use this title on a layout.  When Kerri said we were pairing up with Bella Boulevard this month and when I saw their Hello Autumn collection, I knew this is how I would scrap the photo and the song.

boys of fall sm

As a freshman and senior, our 2 boys had a unique opportunity this season to play together on the same team.  And a few weeks ago they had the opportunity to play in the same game.  That’s something pretty neat and pretty rare!  This photo is from that game; it’s a memory I know I’ll cherish for a long time, and so will they.

I cut the ‘fall’ title from the All About Fall set out of one of the woodgrain papers in the collection.

I then cut leaves (using the This+That: Autumn

[Just Shapes]) from two more of the papers in the collection.  To make the leaves stand out against the background, I outlined them with a brown pen and then adhered them with pop dots for a little extra depth and dimension.

To add a few finishing touches, I used the One Fine Day stamp set to stamp a few strategically placed sentiments with brown ink.  I just love these stamps – ALL of Kerri’s stamps! – I love the words, the fonts, the design AND they stamp so crisply!

If you have a minute and want to watch a pretty neat music video, one that will give you a feel for where my heart was this football season with our senior and where my heart was when I made this layout, here you go  –  If you’re a softie like me, you might want to have the Kleenex handy.  I’m just saying’…. :)

This page brings back so many memories! I love how Layle incorporated stamps into her page. It’s those subtle little details that help convey your message and bring the page together.
