Old + New = Love.

Today I thought it might be fun do a little current fashion fave. For the past few years, I’ve not been carrying a wallet, much less a purse. The modern conveniences of debit cards and no young kids has allowed me to throw my license and debit card in one pocket and my phone in my other pocket allowing me complete freedom of hands and running hither and dither.

But there have been times when I ‘didn’t have that card’ with me to go to Costco on a whim, or gather points, or whatever the case may have been. In addition, I recently upgraded from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 6s (love) and as you probably know, it’s just a little bit bigger. Most of the time it’s fine, but some front pockets are not quite so accommodating. They are small and makes me nervous that it might push its way out. And I never put it in a back pocket.

So for the past few short months I’ve been ‘forcing’ myself to get into the habit of carrying a purse again. I do need Chapstick from time to time too and that can get kind of melty in your pocket on  a hot day. ;)

And the funny thing is, I love bags and wallets! But mostly I just look at them from afar because…why spend the money when I don’t use them.

Alas, I just purchased a new bag last month that I adore and  combined it with a wallet that I bought in Italy about 20 years ago.

Meet my new faves.

I’m not usually one to splurge on a bag. Hello? Remember how I hardly use them? Generally I’m more of a Macys-get-it-on-sale girl, but this Patricia Nash bag won me over and I splurged a little more than usual. (You can get it at Macy’s though.)  The bag itself measures 12x9x3. Which is just the right size for me. I don’t need a lot of space. There’s a pocket with a snap on the side next to the body (my keys), a good size pocket in front with the cute flap (my phone), and then the inside has the usual two pockets and a zippered pocket….and it’s all lined with some sort of lusciousness! Suede maybe?

I also love that it has a long drop on the strap to accommodate my ‘above average’ size when I wear it cross-body style, which is most of the time. I love having my hands free. And if I wanted, I could carry my Canon 7D with the pancake lens on it in there. Tried. Tested. But I may not put my wallet in there with it…

I figured since this bag was quality and I knew I loved it, that it was okay this one time to splurge. Heck, this wallet I bought in Rome…20 years ago…I think cost me about $75 US (back when Italy was still using liras) and that took me like a half hour to decide if I should really get it. But, when in Rome and all… (Like the only time that phrase actually applied.) I love it too and it has stood the test of time. I don’t think it’ll ever go out of style. And do you see all the pockets??? Pockets everywhere! Love it! And I can even put my iPhone in where those Kate Spade note papers are. It’s pretty sweet.

So yeah. That’s my new favorite ensemble. Love how the old+new mixed so well together. Must be a leather thing. And just for fun, here’s what it looks like wearing it…along with one of my new favorite spring sweaters from Maurices. :)

Seriously love this bag. And no, this is not a sponsored post. Just sharing what I love. :)
And now, with this being the last day of the month and all, it is the last day to save on the brand new Said+Done 2.0 class that starts March 14. The construction workers are still outside my house with noisy heavy equipment and beep beep beep, so I’m hoping I’ll get to record more lessons soon. ;)

So many great tips and resources in this class! And love that it’s all about making prints (no cutter needed) so anyone can play along!
