Weekend Workshops: The Pocket Book

I am so excited to bring a new style of ‘class’ to KBS!

Welcome to the wonderful new world of Weekend Workshops.

(This is just a sampling of items you’ll get or make in class!)

Weekend Workshops are–more or less–scaled down versions of KBS Classes and created to help you increase your MAD (Make, Alter, and Design) skills. They are also designed to be more project based.

And the kicker…they are designed to all be done in a weekend!

Some components we’ll design.
Some components we’ll alter.
Some (okay…many) components will be provided.
And we’ll make the whole glorious thing together!

We’ll watch a few videos, learn some new things, have a few laughs….

So excited!

Our first project is this cute little Pocket Book–a little book made of envelopes to create little pocket pages, each with a little twist, if you so desire. It would be so great to use as a travel book, a mother’s day gift or your favorite photos, like what I’m using it for. And what’s great is that it’s expandable in a variety ways, that will cover in class, of course. There will be so many printables to make the project all your own.

Additionally, while we are designing or altering those few components in Silhouette Studio, most images can be trimmed by hand–you won’t have to have a cutter. There will be printables to use as well. For example, you can cut the envelope we make using the provided outlined image that you print on your printer. So you can have the benefit of using Silhouette Studio to design in or just print and trim most of the components and still do the project. Oh, and if you have a different cutter? Well, all cuttable images we make or use in the workshop will have the additional cut files included (SVG, DXF and AIv8). That way if you want to learn how to design in Studio and want to still be able to cut from  your own cutter, you can.  Sweet!

Since these workshops are meant to be done in a timely fashion, it is highly recommended that you have a decent understanding of the essentials learned in the first four Silhouette classes as I will not be doing as much explaining of the general items or continually repeating shortcut keystrokes, like I normally do. Although, that being said, I have a feeling that habit will still make appearances. ;) But unless it’s a technique that we’ve never covered or needs explanation, we’ll just plug along with a little less commentary.

So when does this new shindig begin, you ask?

That would be April 28…which is a Thursday!

I know what you’re thinking…that’s a little odd, right?

Well, since this is designed to be done on a weekend, Thursday seems like the perfect day to release it! Then you have a day to gather your supplies, sit down and have some fun for the weekend. It would be a great project for a crop too!

And if you sign up by the class start date, you can save $3.

I can’t tell you how excited I am about these workshops! I’m so excited that I have a feeling I’m over designing fun stuff to work with it. But c’mon, is there such thing as too much stuff? My excitement is your benefit. ;)

Not sure I understand what a “workshop” means.

Will this will be similar to other classes, in that I can watch it over and over again if need be?

Is this a a limited viewing, or live – one shot deal on the 28th?

    Thank you.

It’s the same as the classes–all access, self-paced–it’s just a little shorter. :)

This sound fun!!! I might have to give it a try.

Does the Office Tag come with this class purchase or do I need to buy it separately?

    • Kerri April 24, 2016 at 9:09 pm

The one ‘typical’ office tag + reinforcement itself comes in the class.
It’s the other style and the text that’s on them that won’t be in the class. :)
