June is coming to a close folks. Two more days until July. Can you even believe it? How am I gonna get all the trips done that I want to do? Okay, so maybe most of those are just daydreaming trips, but still… ;)
And it’s nice to really be back. Sorry for the jump-the-gun excitement over ‘being back’ without knowing there was one more very long step to complete the switch of hosting sites. But we’re back and the speed is just wonderful! I’ve also heard from several of you who have expressed your enthusiasm for it as well. :) It’s so frustrating when you try to to get customer support to listen to you about the change of speed. But I’ll just leave that there. We’ve moved on to bigger and better now, right?
Now, to round out our month of June, we have the lovely Miss Laura today to share a gorgeous page about her and her girls.
Laura always rocks the photo templates! I love the clean lines it brings which allows the creativity on the page itself to shine while keeping the photos still front and center.
Here’s what Laura has to say:
I just love these photos my daughters and I took on Mother’s Day, and knew I wanted to get them on a layout right away. I collaged my photos together using a template from Kerri’s Half Pints #1 kit, and got to work designing the page around my photo collage.
I wanted to keep my background simple, to let the colors in my photos and patterned papers stand out, so I went with a white-on-white die cut background. I die cut a heart background from white cardstock, using a cut file from the Heart Backgrounds kit, and adhered it to another sheet of white cardstock to create the base of my page. I spritzed the entire page with mists in colors that coordinated with my patterned papers, to add just a bit of color to the background.
When deciding on titles for most of my layouts, I start by just browsing thru Kerri’s files within my Silhouette library, and I’ll usually come up with several options to choose from. For my title on this layout, I combined the “love you” (from the freebie love you mom) and “girls” (All In The Family), and die cut each from patterned paper.
While the patterned papers I picked out for this layout are new, the embellishments I picked out to add to the page are old. I had fun digging thru my stash of embellishments from years and years ago, and pulling out some fun pieces to finish off the page.
And now today I’m off on an unexpected and last-minute adventure to California–I may even make it to the beach. Jordan got a job a week or so ago working in the Big Bear area for the summer. So us girls are driving down for a quick trip. (Anything we should do or see or eat there?)
Combine that with the long holiday weekend and I felt like I should wait on the release of the new July stamps until after the 4th of July…releasing on Wednesday when all the festivities have died down. I’m really excited about these stamps! It’s something completely different, but I know it will help me with my One Little Word this year, illuminate.
