Can you believe ‘Thanksgiving Eve’ is one week from today? I can taste all the goodness right now. So excited for turkey, homemade stuffing, cheesy potatoes, sweet potato souffle, pumpkin and/or apple pie…oh my, the list goes on and on! Oh, and in our house on holiday mornings, we do Caramel French Toast, which is made the night before and ready to pop in the oven. Mmmmm…..
This time of year brings thoughts to home, family, friends…all the love…all the grateful things in your life.
And it also brings us to this adorable spread by Miss Laura.
I adooooore this page! Love how she used digital stamp elements to create this beautifully simple spread on her family.
Let’s hear what Laura has to say:
This year I’ve gone back and forth between making traditional layouts, working in my 9×12″ Project Life album, creating 6×12″ and 6×8″ pocket page spreads, and I even gave the traveler’s notebooks a try. Along the way, I’m finding that I gravitate towards certain formats and certain sizes more than others. After 24+ years of scrapbooking, and focusing mainly on creating 12×12″ layouts all those years, the pocket page albums and smaller sized formats really speak to me lately.
So when I set out to create this layout, I decided to create a 6×8″ two page spread. I created a layout recently with a similar design – 6×8″ photo on one side, and 6×8″ journaling page on the other side – and I really love the way it looks. This design works really well when you have a special photo, and a lot to say about it!
I used the PNG file for the word “home” from Kerri’s Giving Thanks kit, along with a digital stamp for the subtitle, to add a title to my photo before printing. For my journaling page, I added a few digital patterned paper strips, from A Traveler’s Pack: Splendid kit, along the bottom of the page. I added a few digital stamps to the page, making the house sketch blue and the heart green to tie in with the colors in my photo. Once I had my journaling all typed up, I also added one last digital stamp to complete the last sentence – adding the “happy place” from the Gather Together digital stamp for my finishing touch.
Digital stamps or PNG files can be such an easy way to add embellishments to your page. Elements already thought out so that all you need to do is pick one–or two or three or four–and put it where you need it in the size you need it…and the color. Love that. And love how Laura combined all those different elements on hers!
