It’s A Birthday Kind Of Week!

You know, every time this time of year rolls around, I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for as long as I have. On August 4 (this Saturday) in the year 2010 I went live with my very first kit. It took a lot of guts and gumption for me to make that decision and test the waters of selling designs for craft cutters. I still can’t believe it was something that I could do and create a business from.

Over time, this little company of mine has blossomed into so much more–with classes and stamps, not to mention the amazing people I’ve had creating marvelous things with my little designs. And let’s not forget about of all you too! So many people from around the world have been so supportive in my endeavors and I’ve made so many friends.

I have been truly blessed and humbled by this whole experience.

So in honor of all that, we are gonna have a party all week long to celebrate number eight!

First off, what would a party be without a sale! On purchases of $10 or more, you can save 30% on downloads and classes using the coupon CELEBRATE8. You can also save 15% on stamps–discount already applied. There are a few exclusions to the sale, like the July stamps that just came out.

And speaking of stamps, there are two new stamp sets available starting today!

There is Roam and It’s A Date. Watch for some fun examples on those coming this week.

Additionally, Hocus Pocus is back in the store for a limited release. These went pretty fast last year and won’t be around for long as they’ll be heading back into the KBS vault.

Second, I thought it would be a total blast to have some great people–and my awesome creative team–help out with something fun this week.

This week these amazing gals will be showing of their renditions of these three sketches. And if you want to play along, please do and share it on the KBS FB page or on Instagram, using the hashtag #kbssketches.

There are three different sketches, with two different options–one for a travelers notebook and one for ‘letter’ size. Of course you could adapt the letter size to 12×12 as well as a TN could adapt to a 6×8 spread.

The reason why I love sketches–or even looking at layouts in their basic form as a sketch–is that you can adapt it how you need. It’s just a starting point to help quickly guide you into getting your documenting done. And I’m all about that!

Today we’re taking a look at Sketch #3 from two amazing gals, Melanie Blackburn and Kim Jeffress!

Let’s start with Melanie.

What Melanie says:

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be here today to celebrate Kerri’s 8th year anniversary, congrats Kerri!  Today I’m contributing a fun TN spread inspired by the wonderful sketch that Kerri created. I love love love this sketch, the design is gorgeous and so much fun to use.

I used the Whatever stamp set and the By the Numbers stamp set to accent my tags and picture. I love a good a stamp set, especially when working in a TN, as I don’t like my TNs to be too bulky, stamps are the ideal accents for a TN. I added various stamps throughout my spread, on the tags and above the journaling.

I also layered my stamps for added details and dimension. To layer stamps I will often use multiple colors, in this case I opted to use black and yellow to compliment the colors of my spread and picture.

I hope you will be inspired to play along with us, happy crafting!

What I say:

Wow! Absolutely love this rendition! Love the idea of swapping the main photo to the other side. And the use of the tags? Ack! Fabulous! Just the tiny details of it all….um….ya…love.

Now here’s a look at Kim’s version of Sketch #3 on a 12×12 spread.

What Kim says:

I wanted to use these photos of my boys sleeping together in some of the hotel rooms on our last vacation. When I saw the Over The Moon cut file I knew it was the perfect starting point for my layout. I used a circle hole punch on one of the 3×4 Beautiful Somewhere cards to punch out the Love This title and used the Whatever stamp set to add a bit of a subtitle underneath.

(World Map card: Beautiful Somewhere / Hello You Amazing Place + Vacation: Scenic Little Words)

What I say:

Oh my! I am over the moon for this! Love that title just sitting there all white-on-white (my fave) there as a background. I swoon! And the mix of the map card in with the photos? Perfection.

I love how this basic sketch produced two amaaaaaazing and completely unique projects!

This is gonna be a super week y’all! The ladies have done fabulous things with three tiny sketches. So exciting! Best company birthday present ever. ;)

(Note: One Day Monday Summer Freebie is on hiatus this week and will return next Monday.)

Some of the best and most versatile stamps (and templates) I own came from your shop. I love them and am glad you went this route 8 years ago. Congratulations!
