A Sketch Page Is Like A Snowflake

No two are alike.

I tell ya folks. The pages that these beautiful women have made are each wonderful and unique! It’s amazing what you can do with one little sketch!

Today we’re looking at Sketch #1 with Melissa and our party guest, Sheree Forcier.

On the left is the TN version (or perhaps 6×8) and on the right is a letter size (or 12×12). I loved the idea of a giant photo mixed with little bits in this sketch

Let’s take a look at Melissa’s first…who happens to be using the brand new Roam stamps!

What Melissa says:

A big CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU, to Kerri Bradford Studio on EIGHT years of designing products that make it so fun and easy to tell our stories! Wow, what a great accomplishment.

This is my take on sketch 1.

For this project I used Kerri’s new, and super fun Roam stamp set. I stuck to the sketch almost to a tee.

On the left side, I started out by adding a 4″x8″ piece of background paper with a small pattern. At the top, I used a tag from Kerri’s Office Tag set. Stamped the ‘Let’s Go Outside’ sentiment and added a bit of journaling with my typewriter. Next, I added a 2.5″ square photo of myself. Last, at the bottom, I stamped that set of trees and that awesome John Muir quote.

For the right side, I used a 4×8″ picture, adding my journaling directly onto the picture.

Can’t see what you all create. Happy making.

What I say:

Love this for so many reasons. Melissa has a gift for stamping, I tell ya! Her work always becomes this typographic wonder. She has a way of putting it all together to make s simple work of art. sigh. Love the giant photo of her in Yosemite–notice the journaling too. I wanna go float the river now. Well, maybe not immediately because of the fire, not to mention it’s closed at this week because of the smoke. Glad I did get to see it earlier this year. It’s such an extraordinary place!

Now let’s take a look at Sheree’s, because she completely blew my mind with her choices!

What Sheree says:

Hi everyone!  I’m so excited to be here playing along as part of Kerri’s birthday celebration!  I love working sketches.  They’re the perfect inspiration boost you need if you’re in an idea slump with your scrapping!

I did follow the basic design of the sketch but just added an extra strip of patterned paper across the bottom for an extra touch of colour.  I pulled out some of my favourite Kerri Bradford stamps and got to work.  The Brooklyn XL stamps (n/a at this time) were perfect for my title.  Instead of stamping directly onto the page, I stamped them onto plain white cardstock, cut them out and stitched across them on the page for added texture.  Then I embellished the layout with more stamps from the Gather Together, Oh Yeah, Go, Line by Line and Brooklyn SM stamp sets. .  I love that Kerri’s stamps are so versatile and you can mix them together to suit almost any theme!

And Miss Sheree also has a process video to share!

What I say:

Love love love the fussy cutting around the stamped images. Makes these whole unique dimensional elements! And don’t even get me started on the stitching and folding of those stamped leaves! But my favorite part on this page is hands down her choice of using patterned paper rather than a large photo. I never would have thought to do that and it totally makes the entire page! genius. Everything here works so amazingly together. Love it.

Congratulations on 8 years!!! I can’t imagine not having my beloved KBS stamps! I first discovered KBS stamps last summer when I came across a layout from Kim Jeffries involving a pineapple. ;-) I had just returned from a trip to the mountains of CO, and the Escape stamps were perfect for documenting the adventures. Thank you & keep creating!!
