I can’t believe myself. I not only have a title page for 2018 done, but I have the next spread done and…ehem…in the books!
It’s a Festivus Miracle!
I’m opting for a metallic and black+white theme this year. We’ll see how it goes throughout the season…if it will lend itself to such.
I have a question then. Do you scrap for aesthetics or for historics (it’s a word)? Meaning, do you go black+white rather than color because it looks better? It may be that I go b+w and then do a flip of color or tuck a color version behind.
Hmm. We’ll see what happens if the occasion arises.
And that’s our Christmas card. Going basic with a hint of retro. Simple.
On this side of the spread I took a bokeh shot of the tree lights (Fuji X-T10, f/2.0, manual focus). I printed the brand new Merry+Bright on a transparency with my laser printer and Minc’d it in champagne foil. It’s a paler, matte gold and it’s really pretty. I laid that over the photo and tucked it into the page protector.
I used the houses from Christmas Nordic Village and combined it with a Home definition from the Defined stamps. Those houses. Seriously. My fave.
For the intro card that also shares a little story about our family photo, I printed a card from Paislee Press (aka, Liz Tamanaha). If you’ve never seen her art, you must go now. I give you permission. ;) She has a beautiful line for this holiday season!
The pine boughs are a softer, wispier black with flecks of tan, but my plan–and desire–was to Minc them, so in Photoshop I changed the image to black+white and increased the black Levels so that I could assure a nice toner placement so it would foil well with the Minc.
Mission accomplished. :)
On the backside, I printed some paper from Liz’s line and topped it with my Christmas Means More print. Believe it or not, I designed, printed, and Minc’d this in 2015 and still had yet to use it. Boom. Done.
I’m not sure if I’ll add something to the pine bough card or not. I really like the white space, but I’d also thought some big letters might be cool there. Thoughts?
I’m off to a great start!
It’s the best I’ve ever done within the holiday season.
I’m patting myself on the back now. ;)

Such beautiful pages! Simple, clean, meaningful.
I did think too, that maybe there could be a nice bold word on the pine bough like “FACTS”, “THE STORY” or “25 / DECEMBER” or something similar ….
As you have asked: My photos are colored but I try to match the used photos to my theme. But when I use more photos on one page (like all family members in seperated 2×2″ pockets), I then tend to switch them into b/w, because of the different backgrounds and clothes etc. (They would make me crazy).
Can´t wait for your new pages !
