You know, I often make pages with very minimal color. I love my white backgrounds and neutral colors.
But ya know what? Since being in Kauai, I’ve taken on a whole new appreciation for color. You just can’t help it in places like this. Am I right? The various colors of the sunrises, the shadows and light in the trees, the plumeria and hibiscus…even the wild roosters are gorgeously colored. :)
Right now I’m in love with color.
So when I saw this spread from Sheree using this month’s samps, I may have let out a little sigh. It’s so my jam right now.
Take a look.
Oh those flowers. Be still my heart! What a sweet bouquet. And how awesome is her background design using green stamping ink with the A Fine Line stamp?
Here’s what Sheree has to say:
I couldn’t wait to play with the mix of flower stamps in the new Homegrown and Plant Life stamp sets! They were perfect for my traveler’s notebook spread about Mother’s Day. I altered the line spacing for my journaling in photoshop so the lines of the large A Fine Line stamp would line up with the lines of my journaling. Once the journaling was printed, I stamped the lines across the page, then continued the line stamping across the other page of the spread as well.
I played around with the flower and leaf stamps using different coloured inks until I had a mix of pretty things to cut out and use. The photo was adhered to the first page, then I created a lovely, layered flower cluster across the bottom. I also added the circular LOVE image from the State of Mind stamp set.
For the journaled page I used the Newport alpha stamps for my title, then tucked another leaf and yellow flower in behind to carry a bit of colour across to this side of the spread. A little machine stitching and the date was also added to finish it all off.
And now to see how it all came together….
