Oh boy. It’s the last part of September and I feel like I’m finally getting a chance to work on my One Little Word, Order, again. All my hopes and dreams for creating a more an organized home life have gone by the wayside. I’ve had a strange year (so what else is new–haha), which has kept me from this greatly needed project.

But this past week I was back in action, in part for the decision to get a new bed–going from a queen size to a king size mattress. Yay! We have to make space in our room by changing my bulky dresser for a chest of drawers and get rid of the two bulky night stands and standing jewelry box. So I started by sorting through all the jewelry I don’t wear anymore that I’ve collected through the years, put them into baggies, and will put them in a storage container under my bed. I may possibly wear them again or I’d even like to repurpose them into new jewelry. A project for another day. ;)

I scaled down from the jewelry cabinet (bottom of photo) to this box and it feels good!

 

 

I thought I’d share a little tip. I bought some 2×2 and 2×3 baggies to put my jewelry in to keep it from being exposed to tarnishing. Silver chains–especially delicate ones–are so hard to clean. I also like the baggies because it keeps the necklace from getting tangled or tangled with other necklaces.

Do you find that you end up wearing a small group of rings, earrings and necklaces over and over? That’s where I’m at and that’s why I’ve only got out my essentials.

I’m doing my best to simplify.

I’ve gotten rid of a a ton of clothes, cleaned out dresser drawers, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to get rid of all the ‘weight’ in my bedroom….and how excited I am to have a king size bed after 31 years of a queen. It’s not been bad, but I do have this sixth sense when my husband’s elbows come flying towards my face in the night. ;)

One big project I can cross off my rather long to-do list.
