I can’t believe we are over half done of our (inter)National Scrapbook Day Party! How does time move both fast and slow right now?

It is quite the conundrum.

Have you been documenting your COVID moments? I think there is so much more–or less–that we’re doing these days. Things that may be ‘normal’, but done in abnormal proportions, whether it be great or small. And then there are things that we do that are completely new, like wearing face masks! I had my first real experience with that last week when I went to Target. Hubs has been the designated shopper, but finally I decided I needed a turn. ;)

When I formulated the Lay It All Out: Travelers Notebooks, it was me creating a solution so I could scrap faster. To have a sketch of sorts ready so that all I would need to do is assess my photos and journaling for the week (that’s basically how I document), pick a template style that suited it, and then did my thang.

I’ve been thrilled to see what the KBS girls have been doing using this same concept this week. And our dear Miss Laura has a few pages to share with us on her COVID experiences. You guys, this girl works at Costco, so you have to give her all the props for her contributions during this time (insert hand clapping here).

Here’s what she’s wants to remember, Lay It All Out style.

My favorite part of this isn’t what she used–although that’s all fabulous. It’s that this is the first time she’s used her handwriting and I absolutely looooove that! I find it hard to handwrite journaling too, but you know what? After losing my mother, finding the bits of things that she actually wrote were priceless. I think it’s so important to include handwriting from time to time. So yay Laura! It looks wonderful! And what a piece of history to be writing!

Here she is to tell us all about it:

Hey everyone, it’s Laura here. We’re focusing on Kerri’s Lay It All Out: Travelers Notebook kit this week. The first sentence in the kit’s description reads “These templates are designed to help you get your memories down even faster than before” – and that’s exactly what they did for me.

After die cutting several of the templates from white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo, I simply laid the templates over white cardstock cut to TN size (I create individual pages that I slip into my Life Crafted album as opposed to using an actual travelers notebook) and drew in my lines with a fine tip black pen.

Once those lines are drawn out, you end up with a great start to your page, as you know where the journaling will go and you have empty spaces for photos and any other embellishing and/or title work that you want to add in. So much of the thinking and decision making is already done for you, which simplifies the process and really lets you focus on getting your stories and memories down.

I am not one to use my own handwriting on my layouts – never have been if I’m being honest. But. I decided to go for it on these pages. I have been wanting to document this crazy Covid-19 time that we’re all in right now, and this was the perfect way to get started on some of those stories. I didn’t want to spend a ton of time on these little spreads, and using my own handwriting really simplified my process.

I worked two of Kerri’s new stamp sets, Denali XL and Denali Etc XL, into my pages, along with stamps from five other recent sets. I added in a little patterned paper and a few simple embellishments and in no time at all, I had three spreads completed. I can’t wait to use the Lay It All Out: Travelers Notebook kit to create more pages documenting this weird time that we’re all going through.
