Everyone say hello to Miss Tazhiana Gordon!!!

This girl, I tell ya what…she is amazing in every sense of the word. I’ve gotten to know her more over the past few months and she has such an incredible heart and fabulous creative little hands. She has the kind of spirit where you get drawn into her world and you just want to hang around and visit all day with her…and some day we will, Miss Tazhi. ;)

I’m thrilled to have her here!

I’m going to turn the rest of this post over to Tazhi to have her tell you a little bit about herself and to share her first official KBS Creative Team project!

My name is Tazhiana Gordon and I’m a 29 year old crafter from Brooklyn, NY. I live with my husband and two cats, Astoria and Minerva.

I discovered the whole idea of memory keeping a few years ago and always kept albums of photos throughout high school. It wasn’t until August of 2016 that I stumbled onto the memory keeping community on Instagram and plunged headfirst down this rabbit hole. Since then, I’ve added different mediums to my repertoire and I think I’ve finally developed a personal style that’s a little chaotic, involves lots of mixed media, is pretty colorful and full of texture and dimension. I love just about all mediums this hobby has to offer, from pocket pages to mini albums to traveler’s notebooks to large traditional 12×12 scrapbooking.

I think there is deep, deep value in telling your own story and not letting someone else tell it for you, and that is what keeps me attached to the glue and the paper and the stickers.

My creative goals include finishing a year of Project Life, dusting off my wedding album and continuing to document a life well lived. When I’m not making, I’m drooling over what other people are making, writing or listening to music. It’s an absolute joy to be able to share my stories with you!

Okay, back to Tazhi now…

Hello friends! I am super excited to share my first project for Kerri using the gorgeous September releases. I am a huge fan of Kerri’s alphabet stamp  sets – her font choices are always so much fun and I appreciate that there is a variety of sizes to play with. For this spread documenting my sister and a brand new Noah, I used both Jordan alphabet sets as well as the coordinating number stamps and the super darling Hello Baby set.

I started by blending a variety of blue inks on my cardstock panel and then die cutting a tag out of some scrap paper that I also blended some inks on. For my stamping, I began by first stamping Noah in clear embossing ink and covering it in embossing glaze. I love that it adds a bit of color, shine and texture to this page. I then worked on arranging my stamps around his name, alternating between black ink, the Distress colors I used, and the embossing glaze again. I made sure to add a few vertical stamps mixed in to add interest and to help me continue building that column shape. Finally, I stamped his birthdate in blue ink and added a few chipboard stars.

For my tag embellishment, I stamped JOY using the smaller Jordan font as well as a sentiment from the Hello Baby set and embossed it with white embossing powder. A scrap of white ribbon and a few more chipboard stars completed this cluster and the whole layout. I love how this monochromatic spread came out and I especially enjoyed using these fun stamps for this project!
