Oh my goodness, I can hardly contain my excitement! We have another fabulous new friend joining the KBS Creative Team.

Everyone give a warm welcome to Miss Ashley Horton!!

I have soooo enjoyed getting to know Ashley more and more the past year or so. This girl is lovely, so incredibly talented and her travelers notebooks simply bring me joy. Plus we seem to have many other similarities, our love of Silhouette, our love of stamps, and our love of simplicity. She’s just so my jam. :)

Here she is to tell us a little bit about herself:

 

 

Hi everyone!  My name is Ashley Horton and I live in Daphne, Alabama, with my husband Tyler, our 3 kids, Madison, Emma, and Reese and our doggie, Baxter.  I have been Scrapbooking since 2006!  I was introduced to it right after our first daughter was born and I thought it would be a great way to document her photos, rather than doing the typical baby book.  Here I am, 14 years later, still going strong!

I started out with traditional 12×12 scrapbook layouts, but over the years, I’ve done a little bit of everything…layouts, cards, home decor projects, and Traveler’s Notebooks.  Traveler’s Notebooks have become my new project of choice!  I love that it still gives me the feeling of traditional scrapbooking, but I am working with a smaller layout AND…they are great for storing…so much easier than 12×12 albums!

Another thing that I’ve come to love about scrapbooking, is the great community of other crafters!  I’ve met so many amazing women and men, who love this hobby as much as I do.  It’s so great to be able to share my projects with others and see what so many of you are creating, also.

Some of my other interests outside of crafting are cooking, reading and traveling.  I used to be a very picky eater, but as I’ve gotten older, I like to try new things (within reason, that is!  HA!).  And, I could sit and read for hours on end.  My favorite genres are historical fiction and fantasy, and I’m currently making my way through the Outlander series.  As for traveling, I love getting out and seeing new places.  Our family bought a Travel Trailer earlier this year, that we renovated, and we LOVE taking it out!  I can’t wait to take it around the US, and of course, snap lots of photos to add to my Traveler’s Notebooks!!

Oh my Halloween heaven….just look at all this goodness! And so much KBS stampin’ goin’ on…wow! This is just too danged fun. Take a look at all the details. seriously.

And before you say anything, yes, we will be getting more Trick or Treat in. We’re just having major delays with manufacturing because he’s had his own delays with getting supplies. But things are coming…

Here’s Ashley to tell us more about her project:

I am so SUPER EXCITED to join the KBS Design Team and work with Kerri’s amazing stamps and digitals!!  Today, I am here to share my first project with you, using the Trick or Treat and Jordan Numbers stamp sets.  I couldn’t resist immediately documenting Halloween with the Trick or Treat stamp, because it’s my top favorite holiday to document!  I also brought in the Tags A La Carte cut file that Kerri offered earlier this summer as one of the Freebies (it’s still available in the store for purchase).

I knew I wanted to use the Trick or Treat stamps on the cut out Tags A La Carte, to create some type of banner on my layout.  So I chose several different sized tags and then decided which of the stamps would work on that size.  I used a mix of Yellow, Orange and Black ink to stamp the sentiments onto the tags.  Once I had finished all of my stamping, I went through my Hey Pumpkin collection and grabbed a mix of scrap pieces of patterned papers that I had left over from other projects.  I placed those pieces on my white background to create a base for my photo and stamped tags.  I added my photo first, so I would have an idea of the tag placement and then I just arranged them across both of the pages.

One of my favorite things to do with white space in photos, is to add some stamping or an embellishment.  For this photo, the word Halloween from the stamp set was a perfect fit at the bottom.  Then, I stamped out 2019 with the Jordan Numbers stamp to add below the photo.  I just stamped them on a piece of white paper and trimmed around each one.  Paired with the word Halloween, it made a perfect title for my layout.

I finished off the layout by adding in some embellishments from the Hey Pumpkin collection.  And, I couldn’t have a banner without something to hang it!  So I used some Black and White twine to “hang” the tags on my layout.  I cut the twine to different lengths, to add some variety to the page and then I just secured the ends with my tiny attacher, to put the final touches on everything!!
