2020.

It’s just about done.

I don’t know if I’m about ready to party or if I’m worried that 2021 will just be more of the same. We’ve had some good times, but we’ve had some pretty more-than-usual crummy times too, like starting off the year with my daughter getting into an accident on the freeway that could have had a totally different outcome other than her walking away and then ending the year with losing a family member. And we won’t talk about all the other weird stuff 2020 has produced.

I do try to keep a positive attitude, but sometimes it isn’t easy. Hoping that 2021 brings a better vibe. One thing I do know is that I am grateful for what I do have and the good things that this year has had.

But I do know one thing, just like Tazhi has said in this awesome spread, always say yes to dessert. Sweet stuff can put a smile on anyone’s face. :)

How much do I love the Jordan alphabet series? Let me count the ways – maybe it’s the length of it matched with the slightest flourishes on the ends or it’s the how bold and graphic it is with some color in the background but either way, I am a giant fan of this series and so I tried to use every bit of it on this layout about one of my recent brunch escapades with my husband. I even pulled out the Wheat Background stamp and stamped my own patterned paper to use as a backdrop for the date – I absolutely cannot handle the large numbers in this font – and then stenciled some Distress Oxide inks before stamping a sentiment with the smaller lower case font.

One of my favorite things about Kerri’s stamps is she includes multiples of each letter which makes it very easy to stamp longer sentiments, especially for a stamping novice like me. I continued the stenciling and stamping combination for my title – “sweet for certain” – using the larger Jordan Lower font and then finished the layout with some journaling using one of the Initially alphabets (that’s another release I could wax poetic about for days!) and I love the colors and the fun graphic yet grungy feel this layout has.
