I love being surprised…in certain ways, of course. Like a destination that I had no idea looked like something. I also love just picking up and going to see something new–being somewhat spontaneous.

But I can’t think of a time where I’ve been so spontaneous to decide to go see the Grand Canyon one afternoon and leave the next day.

What the french toast?

It’s true. When Dan and I went to Kanab (UT) in February I saw a sign that said ‘Grand Canyon, 90 miles’. I had no idea it was so close! So I knew I wanted to take another trip to the area so I could see it (May 15 – Oct 15). A conversation with my sister led to us both talking about wanting to go to the Grand Canyon…and…there ya have it. Boy, I tell you what, I did some hurried research those few short hours! haha We left early the next day, drove into Zion, ate dinner in Kanab, did a hike to the Toadstool Hoodoos, spent the night there in Kanab and left early the next morning for the Grand Canyon.

Wow! What a trip! And what a beautiful place to go! We didn’t really get to spend a lot of time there since we had a six hour trip back home, but it was just beautiful. Gave me a taste and now I want to go back with my whole family and stay in the cabins there and do some more hiking.

So I thought it would be really fun to make a spread on that trip featuring this month’s stamps.

 

 

 

I used Headline Upper XL Outline with the Headline Upper XL for the Grand Canyon initials and added ‘national park’ from Greater Yellowstone. Small adventures for the win from Outdoor Mood was the perfect sentiment to top my journaling card, along with a snippet of washi. I completed that little bottom ensemble with a tree, also from Outdoor Mood and a sentiment from Fan Of Summer.

On the right page I used Max SM for a big yes and topped it with a sentiment from Outdoor Mood.  Just here for the view is also from that set.

I used Botanically Inclined for a little tone-on-tone leafiness and added a tiny little diecut camera from Iconic.

Holy cannoli…when I list everything out, I had no idea I’d used so many stamps. It’s amazing what those little buggers can do. :)
