I love to go fishing. I didn’t say I fish, but I love to go be outdoors, take photos, read and spend time with those that do love to actually fish. ;) And we did just that this past Saturday–Dan, Zach, his life-long buddy and me. It brings me great joy.

For my fishing themed traveler’s notebook spread I thought the Academy and Academy XL had a great masculine feel and would be perfect together for my title.  I stamped the word “gone” directly only my page, then for the word “fishin’” I stamped the letters individually onto white cardstock and cut them out before adhering them in place.

I thought it would be fun to change one of the i’s in the word “fishin’” to a fish shape.  The solid surfboard in the Waves stamp set was already the shape of a fish so it just needed a tail added on.  I searched through my KBS stamps and found the perfect sized solid heart stamp in the Hey Kiddo (n/a) stamp set!  I stamped both the surfboard and the heart slightly overlapping each other onto white cardstock and it worked perfectly! I swapped out the first “i” for the fish then added a bit of twine just under the head of the fish and trailed it round to the top of the page and secured it to the back.  I think it adds just the right amount of fun to the title.

Under the journaling I used a phrase from each of the Waves and Outdoor Mood stamp sets then added the date with the Timetable stamp set.  At the bottom of the page I’ve used the cool criss-cross patterned stamp (which looks a little like netting) from the Love Is Everywhere stamp set. 

To finish of the spread I added one more stamped phrase from the Waves stamp set to the full-sized photo page.  I used my sewing machine throughout the spread for added texture.

I just love how versatile KBS stamps are and how easy it is combine different sets to suit any theme!
