What’s red and white and Christmas-ee all over? Ohhhh, that would be this beautiful card from Sheree. Seriously, basically two stamps and you’re done and it’s fabulous!
When I was looking at the new stamps I noticed that the new Skinny Plaid background stamp looked great behind the Christmas Jumble stamp so I decided to make a card featuring them both together.
First I stamped the Christmas Jumble stamp onto white cardstock with red ink, cut it to a tag shape and stitched around the edge of my sewing machine. I then added a touch of gold with a chipboard star adhered on top of the dot on the “i”. I also tied a bow with some ribbon at the top of the tag then put it aside.
I stamped the Skinny Plaid stamp onto white cardstock with the same red ink. I trimmed it down and positioned it across a 4.25” x 5.5” red cardstock piece then added machine stitching.
All I had to do then was adhere the tag to the red and plaid background with foam adhesive. I tucked some little green branches under the left side of the tag to add some more texture then adhered the whole piece to the front of a plain white card.
i love these 2 stamps, but i’m having trouble getting good ink coverage. What tips can you share to get rid of my blotchy images!
I think a juicier ink works well, like maybe the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks. I also love the Studio Calico black ink and Altenew inks. Using something like a MISTI stamping tool where you can re-ink your stamp and place it down exactly on top can help. I also like a thinner stamping block. Thicker ones never work well for me on bigger surface stamps. In fact, on something like this Christmas stamp, I would use one of Tim Holtz stamping blocks because they are thin like the MISTI tool. Hope that helps a little. :)
