In my quest for having options to include multiple photos in my daily journal, I started down a path of creating A6 photo templates…and it just exploded! There is a new Photo Templates: A6 kit of TWENTY-NINE templates! I seriously could not stop. Even when the kit was in its final compilation stage for putting on my site, I decided I needed one more. And goodness, I could probably do a lot more. Maybe someday. ;)

In the past (started doing this about 12 years ago) I created photo templates that generally came in groups of ten. But this time, I wanted a library to keep things simple and all together. That includes a master printout with filenames so you can easily assess the photos you have with a template you’ll need and just open it right up in Photoshop/Elements and get to work.

And while I say these are A6 (ish) size–4″ x 5.8″–you can adjust the template to a full 4×6 size with very minimal distortion (before adding photos) or keep the 5.8 height and work with a border.

The Plain Notebook journals–both A6 and Travelers Notebook–I have in my shop are 4.25″ wide. But I chose 4″ wide on the templates so that they would be super easy to use at home or send off to a printer.

 

 

There are several tips and tricks included in the printout, but here’s what I did with the photo above. You can see the template layout I used to the left. It’s hard to tell in comparison, but that template is 3.26 x 5.8″…so almost full size. Yet from my printed photo, you can see it doesn’t quite look the same.

To achieve this look, I first sized it down to give a big border and then turned on the Thick border in the Layers palette. Most of the templates offer three choices: no border, Thin border (default) and Thick border. With the Thick turned on it allowed me the space to type journaling in between.

What you see is not necessarily the only thing you’ll get. ;) There is lots of fun and variety to be had with a little messing around.

I’m still just scratching my head…twenty-nine photo templates in one kit! No wonder it took me so long to pull it all together. haha
