Happy Mother’s Day

May 8th, 2016|freebies|

It’s been 12 years since I lost my mom. She was only 65 at the time. So many times I think, ‘Gee, my mom would get a kick out of this.’

I always miss her.

So on this, the day of celebrating mothers, be sure to give your mom or your kids–or the favorite women in your life–extra hugs and take a picture with them! I wish I had more pictures with my mom. Today is a perfect time to do it.

It’s your day to be pampered. Enjoy it!

And you can download this freebie to use as a last minute gift tag or 3×4 card.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

The Heart of Life is Good | Giveaway + Freebie

March 4th, 2016|freebies|

heart of life web

I’ve been very troubled over the past couple of months hearing the craziness going on in our country. Like, as in scared. A lot of it seems to stem from the political side of life, which I won’t get into or share my feelings there. But I will say that I’m afraid for our country. I’m afraid how people are acting…and that people think it’s acceptable. Every day it seems like there is something terrible going on or being said.

Where did our kindness and respect go for one another?

Normally I try not to pay attention to all the crap going on in the Facebook world, but one story caught my eye yesterday. Someone being completely rude and vulgar to another in a drive-thru and the recipient of the rudeness, in turn, paying for the rude person’s meal–and teaching his son kindness in the process. That takes a lot of gumption to ‘turn the other cheek’ and do something kind instead.

About ten minutes later, I’m down in my studio listening to some tunes when this song by John Mayer came on.

I’ve always loved this song. In fact, it reminds me of driving along a two-lane road in the middle of Idaho somewhere near Silver Creek during a trip with my hubs to Sun Valley a few years ago.

The message, the heart of life is good.

I believe that there is much more kindness in this world than the negative we always seem to hear about. We can all be better.

May we always be tolerant.
May we always be understanding.
May we always be patient.
May we always be positive.
May we always speak kind words.

We’re all in this world together.
Let’s make it a great and positive place.
Let’s love one another.

That’s my challenge to you today. To do something kind for someone, perhaps outside of something that you would normally do. And take it a step further and make it a priority every day.

And now, in my efforts towards all things positive, I’m doing a giveaway of a stamp set of your choice to three lucky people.

To enter, leave a comment here of what you would like to do–or recently did–as an act of kindness. Or maybe share something you saw happen.  Let’s feed off of one another’s positivity rather than the negativity.

Winner will be drawn Sunday morning.

And as one more act of kindness from me…the above print (cut file) is available as a freebie for you all.

Cut or print it out. Hang it up. Use it as a reminder that being kind and positive is much better for your life and everyone around you. (The border I added comes from the Christmas Means More.)

Love turns the whole thing around.

After all, the heart of life is good.

Much To Be Thankful For

November 26th, 2015|everyday life, freebies|

There are so many things to be thankful for.

First and foremost, I’m thankful for my amazing family.

I’m thankful for the simple things, like a roof over my head, hearing my kids laugh and making caramel french toast each night before a holiday.

I’m also so thankful for all of you and the light you have brought into my life.

I’m thankful for modern-day technology that allows us to all be friends–all over the world.

Have a wonderful day with your loved ones, whether it’s a holiday or not.

Get stuffed.

And Happy Thanksgiving!

It Bears Repeating

November 22nd, 2015|freebies|

They are quotes for a reason.

They make us laugh.

They make us ponder.

They resonate with our lives.

They give us motivation.

People say some pretty amazing things.

And they bear repeating.

I guess that’s why they become a quote.

I’ve kind of had an unusual past couple weeks.
Dealing with a few kinds of things on the business side of life that I don’t normally deal with.

To be honest, it’s been a little unnerving.

It makes me ask why _____.

I know that’s all a little vague, but when I saw this quote from Gordon B. Hinckley,
one that I’ve seen many times….

I knew it was worth repeating.

It resonated with me.

No matter what negative outside influences are a part of my life, I can always choose to see the positive. I can have a twinkle in my eye.

I decided to quickly whip it up into a printable that you could use as a bookmark, or put in your planner, or print it big size to have as a constant reminder.

And as I was working on it, I listened to some Michael Giacchino for a while. And gosh darn it, if that didn’t just make me all kinds of happy. Kind of got me out of my funk that I’d been in due to some of that ‘kind of thing’ that I’d had to deal with.

Quotes and music…especially someone like Michael Giacchino.

good stuff.

Have a beautiful Sunday everyone.

And here’s to having a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face.

Let’s love life.

And let’s love one another too while we’re at it. :)

Friday Freebie | The Unexpected Moment

August 28th, 2015|freebies|

I think that one of my most favorite things is an unexpected moment.

Something that surprises you.

Something that makes you happy.

Something that makes you go wow.

And that’s why this needed to be done.

It’s just a plain black-text PNG file that you can take into Photoshop,
change the color, and print as needed.
(For a video on how to do this, click HERE.)

This is the last Friday Freebie for the summer.

Can you believe it’s over???

And speaking of things being ‘over’, there’s only a couple more days
to sign up for The History Project before registration is ‘over’.

Friday Freebie | Naturally

August 21st, 2015|freebies|

I’ve had this word in my head. I don’t know if it’s because of the time of year
or the sarcastic life I lead, but it was screaming to be done.

Use it on an outdoors page, for a meal of fresh produce, or when you’re just feeling cheeky.

Speaking of fresh produce…I had to put it to use on this photo. :)

And don’t forget…The History Project starts Monday!

Friday Freebie | Love Is Why We Are Here

August 14th, 2015|freebies|

I saw this written somewhere and thought this was quite appropriate for the week.

I just want to say thank you to everyone for all your wonderful support this week! You are truly amazing! I also thought I’d just clarify that business is doing very well in all aspects–stamps, classes, everything. It was just one of those other Avenues in Business City that was being ventured down and it apparently got shut down due to circumstances beyond one’s control.

So no need to worry, I’m not going anywhere.

And can you believe the time is almost here!
The Designer Edition class starts Monday.
You have until then to save $5.

And as with all KBS classes, freebies are involved.
Here’s a sneak peak at one of them.
Welcome to the cosmos.

Friday Freebie | Hello Little Tree

August 7th, 2015|everyday life, freebies|

This week is our girls camp where my besties, Kristy Banks and Lisa Bearnson head up to the mountains with our daughters and talk and play games and make stuff and just have a good ol’ time. And this year, we get to listen to this the whole day.

So is it any wonder why this needed to be the freebie for today?

And you know how I love to see what my little machine can do. One is just under a half inch and one is just over a quarter inch. Pretty sweet, right? Cut with American Crafts cardstock, of course

So yesterday I was off to the mountains and didn’t get the winners announced for the gift cards,
so today, we do it all!

The winners of a $25 KBS gift card are:

The winners of the stamp set of choice are:

US: MARLA LAGOSKI – AUGUST 5, 2015 – 11:15 AM
UK: GINA – AUGUST 6, 2015 – 2:24 PM

Congratulations! Email me at and we’ll get you all set!

And then I just want to say thanks for all the wonderful comments this week.
I loved sharing my little KBS birthday with you all!

Friday Freebie | Everything Is Connected

July 31st, 2015|freebies|

It’s no secret that I love being outdoors. I may not always get to be outdoors, but if I can sit up in the mountains with the swaying trees and the sound of the birds or by an ocean listening to the waves as them come crashing to shore…then I’m a happy camper.

I thought this phrase was so appropriate for this time of year. Whether you get a trip up the canyon, head to the beach, or just enjoy time sitting in your backyard and appreciate the nature there…it’s all connected. We are all connected.

And of course I had to use it in digital form on a trip to the mountains.

And did you realize this is the very last day of July? School is just around the corner for many people. How about yourself? Ready to do a little class-ing yourself? Sign up for The History Project today because it’s the last day to save $5! (Class starts August 24. Enrollment ends August 31.)

I promise, this is one project you and your family will always treasure.
Get those memories out of your head and onto paper now.
